GALE WILEY Senior Lecturer Journalism and Mass Communication 4 YEARS Gale Wiley taught social and electronic media at Texas State, and also served as a utility instructor for a wide range of communication courses. Wiley received his two undergraduate degrees and graduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Prior to Texas State, he served as director of the communications group at the business school at Rice University where he taught and produced documentaries in India, China and Africa. Wiley also was an associate professor and department head for the broadcasting department at the University of Texas from 1981-1994. As new media director for the Houston Chronicle, he launched chron.com. Though only here for a few years, Wiley found Texas State to be a welcoming environment and a rewarding way to spend the end of his teaching career. He was proud to produce promotional videos for academic units within the College. In retirement, he looks forward to writing a screenplay set in India as well as other projects. MIKE CORNETT Senior Lecturer Communication Studies 13 YEARS Michael Cornett (Ph.D. Florida State 1969) retired from Texas State University in May 2017. He first officially retired as Professor Emeritus from Loyola University Chicago in 2003. : After moving back to his native Texas in 2004, he decided to return to part-time teaching; in 2006, he assumed a full-time position in the Department of Communication Studies.The last 10 years have been some of the most enjoyable of his 52 years of university-level teaching. Relieved from the usual research requirements and heavy committee duties, he fully committed himself to the enjoyment of teaching while also pursuing his personal interests of motorcycling, mountain biking, and traveling. He looks forward to further adventures in retirement.
