2018 College Report

SCHOLARLY AND CREATIVE KATHRYN MOORE SCHOLARLY AND CREATIVE MICHAEL DEVLIN SCHOLARLY AND CREATIVE MICHAEL DEVLIN received the 2018 Emerging Scholar Award from the Communication and Sport Division of the National Communication Association. KATHRYN MOORE won the 2018 PROSE (Professional and Scholarly Excellence) Award for Best Art History Book from the Association of American Publishers. SHAWNA WHITE and co-authors received the 2018 Best Published Article Award in the Children, Adolescents, and Media Division from the International Communication Association. BEVERLY PENN was chosen to represent the state of Texas in the exhibition Women to Watch 2018 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. SEAN HORAN was selected as an Eastern Communication Association 2018 Research Fellow; he was also ranked as the 5th most prolifc communications scholar from 2012-2016. LINDSAY TIMMERMAN and co-authors received the Distinguished Article Award from the Family Communication Division of the National Communication Association in 2017. VANESSA HIGGINS JOYCE was selected as a 2017 Kopenhaver Center Fellow. BEVERLY PENN was awarded a 2017 Louis Comfort Tifany Foundation Artist Award; she was selected by the Texas Commission on the Arts as the 2017 State of Texas 3D Artist of the Year. MICHAEL DEVLIN was the second-place recipient of the 2017 Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Most Promising Professor Award. JUDY OSKAM received a National Association of Television Program Executives 2017 Faculty Fellowship from the NATPE Education Foundation. She was also a Broadcast Education Association 2017 Ignite Scholar. MAUREEN KEELEY received the 2016 Distinguished Article of the Year from the Health Communication Division of the National Communication Association and the 2016 Outstanding Article of the Year from the Journal of Family Communication . SEAN HORAN received the Article of the Year Award from the Eastern Communication Association in both 2016 and 2014. VANESSA DE MACEDO HIGGINS JOYCE’S co-authored paper “Sharing the Stage: Analysis of social media adoption by Latin American journalists” was selected by Routledge as a 2016 top 10 article on Social Media and Digital Journalism. MARIAN L. HOUSER was named an Eastern Communication Association 2016 Research Fellow. EUGENE LEE won Best Actor Awards in Pittsburgh (2016) and Chicago (2015). He was the NAACP Teatre Award Best Actor in 1990, and his play East Texas Hot Links won the 1994 AUDELCO Award in New York for Best New Play. STEPHANIE L.
