I decided after two years at Texas State to take a risk and focus fully on performing. It left me without a plan B in case performing failed, but my gut told me it was the right thing to do. WHY TEXAS STATE? I chose Texas State because of the voice faculty. I didn t know it until I left Texas State to experience other schools and training programs, but in my opinion, the music education I received at Texas State was better and more thorough than the major conservatories in the U.S. HOW DID TEXAS STATE PREPARE YOU FOR YOUR CHOSEN PROFESSION? The musicianship skills I learned at Texas State have helped me keep my head above water in an extremely competitive industry. Opera is tough; there are many many good singers out there.
