- - SCHOOL OF MUSIC ABOUT US Te School of Music proudly provides an intensive education in a nurturing environment that emphasizes student faculty interaction and performance opportunities. Faculty guide students to become performers, educators, and scholars. A long standing, fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music, the School of Music has over 90 faculty who teach approximately 600 students who perform in more than 30 ensembles; cumulatively, the School ofers more than 250 concerts on campus each year. Te School ofers undergraduate degrees in Music, Music Education, Performance, and Sound Recording Technology. Graduate degrees include Music Education, Performance, Composition, Conducting, Music History, and Music Teory. OPPORTUNITIES AND ACCOLADES #20 MUSIC PROGRAM (PerformingArtColleges.com) Jazz Ensembles have performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Montreaux Jazz Festival, and at the Notre Dame Jazz Festival Sound Recording Technology students work in a commercial recording studio and intern with such events as Austin’s SXSWmusic festival Music education is a leading producer of music teachers in the state OPERA RECENTLY WON THE #1 AND # 3 RANKED PRODUCTIONS FROM THE NATIONAL OPERA ASSOCIATION Wind Ensemble has performed at the Music Educators National Conference, College Band Directors National Association, and Texas Music Educators Association Vocal Ensembles have performed with Jay Leno and at the American Choral Directors Association, the International Kodály Festival, and the Texas Music Educators Association Community music outreach programs include Youth Mariachi, Hill Country Youth Chorus, and the Texas State String Project MARIACHI NUEVA GENERACIÓN HAS WON 10 TEAM TITLES and 5 solo vocalist titles at the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza Individual students have performed in Italy, England, Bulgaria, and across the United States RECENT GUEST ARTISTS: Attacca String Quartet, U.S. Army Men’s Chorus, Gordon Stout (marimba), Ian Clarke (fute), Billy Hunter (trumpet), Steve Houghton (jazz drums), and Gerhard Siegel (tenor) with Gabriel Dobner (pianist) ALUMNI (See also Distinguished Alumni) JEREMY BRANSON Associate Principal Percussionist at the Pittsburgh Symphony GILBERT ELORREAGE Won a Grammy as a member of Grupo Fantasma CHRISTIN M.
