DANCE Faculty Accolades Ana Baer’s most recent screendance titled “Drifting Textures” will been screening as part of the The Gift Project at the Constantine Gallery, in Middlesbrough, England during the month of April. http://www. givegiftproject.com/artists.html Kaysie Seitz Brown’s CIM TEYA (Creation in Motion Touring Ensemble for Young Audiences) performed “Creepy Cucuys” and Pat Stone’s “Sick” in the Texas State Informance in March and the “Student & Professional Performances” at Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum in Austin on April 10, 2016. Professor Brown also directed the BFA Senior Thesis Concert at Evans Auditorium, April 27th and 28th. Tammy Fife’s Texas State Strutters performed in the Battle of Flowers Parade in San Antonio in April. The performance was televised on KSAT. The Shay Ishii Dance Company has earned five Austin Critics Table nominations. “Dancestry” has been nominated for Best Dance Concert, “Motherwell Amor” for Best Short Work, “Le Mer” for Best Ensemble, Megan Slayter for Lighting Design and Jessica Lindberg Coxe for Best Dancer for her performance in “Dancestry.” The awards ceremony is May 23. Christa Oliver was cast in Zach Theatre’s summer production, Mary Poppins . The first preview is July 20th and the show closes September 4th. Also, during her time as co-director of Merge Dance Company, Christa started an outreach/college recruitment initiative with Merge and high schools and middle schools, with dance programs in Round Rock ISD, Austin ISD, San Marcos ISD, and San Antonio ISD. Merge taught master classes at Round Rock HS, San Marcos HS, and Crockett HS, and all of the schools have invited us back for the fall and spring and have agreed to send their dancers to the matinee that Merge is doing for their spring concert. LeAnne Smith is working with Philosophy chair, Craig Hanks , faculty Rebecca Farinas , and Dean John Fleming on Engagement: A Symposium of Kaysie Seitz Brown’s CIM TEYA performing Pat Stone’s “Sick”
