Interdisciplinary teams that emerge from the event will have the opportunity to apply for 3-5 internal grants up to $2,500 each sponsored by the Office of the Associate Vice President for Research. Philosophy and Dance . This symposium includes performance, panels, paper presentation, and lecture- demonstrations featuring internationally recognized scholars in the fields of dance, philosophy and aesthetics. Mark Morris Dance Group, Erick Hawkins Dance Company and ARCOS will perform in a three night concert series in the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre on Sept 8, 9, and 10. Nicole Wesley taught a master class at Trilogy Dance Center in San Antonio in March. She also choreographed a contemporary work entitled “Where Are You Now” for the Texas State Strutters’ Spectacular 2016. Student Accolades Seniors Arlin Busano , Kristal Tan , Ally Carvallo , Callie Schmidbauer and Mandy Drager crafted a stellar BFA Senior Thesis Concert at Evans Auditorium April 27th and 28th. C3 Staff Available All Summer C3 Roadshows were a huge success! Over 50 faculty members throughout the college signed up to receive notices on funding opportunities and/or meet with C3 staff. C3 is just one more example of innovations the college is making to support faculty in achieving their scholarly and creative goals. Speed Networking for Researchers Amid the hectic shuffle of wrapping up the academic year, nearly 100 faculty members from across the university took a break Friday afternoon on May 6 to discuss their research and creative ideas, and seek collaborators. This is the first time this event has been brought to Texas State University. Similar to speed dating events, faculty were separated into groups and invited to spend one-minute a piece sharing their research interests with other faculty members or center directors sitting opposite them. Then after both Senior Kristal Tan has been accepted to Broadway Dance Center’s professional program, starting this summer. Alumni Accolades Amanda Forsyth has been hired as a full-time performer with the Walt Disney Company. Leah Smit and Shannon McMullan both had choreography accepted in “Fertile Ground”, a curated Dance festival in Queens, NY to be presented April 17th. Department Accolades DanceColleges.com has ranked Texas State as the #10 undergraduate program in the country.
