Jonathan Faber will have a solo exhibition at David Shelton Gallery in Houston, June 3rd-July 9th. Shannon Faseler will attend an artist residency in Spain this summer called Can Serrat. She was invited to attend on a fellowship. Tommy Fitzpatrick gave a presentation last month about his new commission for the Fed at Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas. David Hefner will be in a two-person show with Joseph Hammer at the Davis Gallery, 837 W. 12th Ave., Austin. The opening reception for Hammer / Hefner will be on Saturday, August 6th, 7 - 9 p.m. The exhibit will be up through September 17th. Brian Johnson’s print ... all a question of story ... was selected for inclusion in the 29th Annual McNeese Works on Paper Exhibition. The juror was Brooke Davis Anderson, Executive Director of the US Biennial (Prospect New Orleans). Carolyn Kilday has been awarded a residency in Assisi, Italy at Arte Studio Ginestrelle in August 2016. Kathleen McShane-Bolton was in a group show, If , (with Brenda Goodman, Peter Williams and Anne Wilson) at Paul Kotula Projects Gallery in Detroit, March 5-26, 2016. She currently has work in the group show Chronodrift at Lumber Room Gallery in Portland, which runs through April 31. As part of Borderland Collective’s exhibition, Northern Triangle , Mark Menjivar led a workshop exploring oral history as sculpture for students at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Mark also began a new collaborative project at the National Museum of Puerto Rican Art and Culture in Chicago. To conclude the exhibition, Erina Duganne has organized and will moderate a closing panel, “The Feeling and Movement of Place,” at the National Museum of Mexican Art on April 23rd. The Online Resource Grant proposal for the Art & Architecture Archive (Proquest) has been funded for $23,805. Thanks to librarian Tara Spies Smith, who wrote the grant, and co-nominators Mark Menjivar , Alan Pizer , Alessandro Segalini , Gina Tarver , and Maia Wright , who wrote statements of support. Randall Reid will have a solo exhibition, Fields of Color , at Nuart Gallery in Santa Fe, April 8-27. He has also been selected for Target Texas: he Meaning of Mixed at the Art Museum of South Texas. Borderland Collective ( Jason Reed , Mark Menjivar and Erina Duganne ) opened their traveling exhibition Northern Triangle at Threewalls in Chicago. They also gave a public talk and did critiques with students at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. MFA 2015 graduate and current ComDes Lecturer Cesar Rivera has accepted a tenure-track position at Sam Houston State University beginning in the fall. Liz Rodda and Joey Fauerso will be presenting the first iteration of SET at Artpace in the Hudson (Show) Room on Thursday, May 5th, at 6pm. SET is a collaborative exhibition program by visual artists and musicians that re-defines the moving image through the context of divergent sites and live soundtracks. The project includes commissioned silent works by Cheryl Donegan (NY, NY), Joey Fauerso (San Antonio, TX), Celeste Fichter (Brooklyn, NY), Duncan Ganley (London, UK), Tatiana Istomina (NY, NY), Susan Jacobs (Melbourne, AU), Maura Jasper (Muncie, IN), Saul Levine (Boston, MA), Liz Rodda (Austin, TX), Luz Maria Sánchez (Mexico City, MX), Barron Sherer (Miami, FL), and Michael Velliquette (Madison, WI) that will travel to multiple exhibition sites accompanied by a wide range of live soundtracks. Carol Schwartz conducted a visiting artist workshop for beginning and advanced ceramics students at Southwestern University in Georgetown. The workshop included a hand-building and surface demonstration, followed by a slide lecture. The Universidad de los Andes has invited Gina to present a public lecture in September to officially launch the book. The Sicardi Gallery, Houston, has commissioned Gina to write a brochure text for the upcoming exhibition Oscar Muñoz: El Coleccionista .
