THEATRE Acting, Musical Theatre, Per formance and Production, Teacher Certif ication in Theatre, Technical Production, & Theatre FACULTY ACCOLADES Linda Breining is stage managing Comedy of Errors with Austin Shakespeare, opening May 4th in Zilker Park. Claire Canavan and Amanda McCorkle (theatre and dance) along with Gordon Jones (Music) co-produced Art in the Park, an interdisciplinary, site-specific performance event in Sewell Park. Austin Shakespeare celebrated the Bard’s birthday on April 23 with Michael Costello as Falstaff and Helen Merino as Prince Hal from Henry IV, Part 1 . They were joined by a string quintet featuring Melissa Ruof and Lucia Woodruff. Michelle Dahlenburg is appearing in Rewind at the Hideout Theatre April 8-May 6. She performed a solo piece in Not This American Life at the Institution Theatre March 31. Michelle appeared in an piece by the Untitled Avant-Garde Theatre Project, and wrote/ directed/performed in a short play called NextDoor IRL for Frontera Fest’s Mi Casa Es Su Teatro . John Fleming’s book, Davies and Penhall’s Sunny Afternoon , will be published by Routledge this July. [ 1 ] Kate Glasheen partnered with Jennifer Johnson from the Department of Communication Disorders to present “The Art and Science of Voice Care” – an interdisciplinary voice workshop celebrating World Voice Day. Eugene Lee won the Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Award for Best Solo Performance in How I Learned What I Learned . Michael Rau is a recipient of the Texas State Teaching and Learning Innovation Grant, for his project “Location- based storytelling using Bluetooth Beacons.” He is also a recipient of the Multicultural & Diversity Institute Curricular Transformation Grant. In addition, Michael has been awarded a fellowship as a Forward/Story Alumni John Fleming’s book, Davies and Penhall’s Sunny Afternoon Ashley Hildreth and George Lamar in Lynn Nottage’s Intimate Apparel at the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre TJ Parker-Young (MFA Dramatic Writing 2017) 18 | April & May | College News 1 2 3
