7 Anyae Reed's virtual cabaret called Quarantine Cabaret where students performed a live show on Zoom and Facebook live 8 Te student created anthology horror web series, “Tales of Phantasmagoria” 9 Beneft convert, Texas State Musical Teatre and Kaitlin Hopkins Present: A Night of Hope , featuring musical theatre students and alumni 18 | April & May | College News Clyburn , Julieanna Stolley and Lydia Landrum . A virtual audience of 50+ were in attendance. B.F.A. Musical Teatre major Anyae Reed started a virtual cabaret called Quarantine Cabaret . Five Texas State students collaborated with three B.F.A. majors from other schools and performed a live show on Zoom and Facebook live. Reed used the show as a way to collect money to provide fnancial support for anyone in need during this pandemic. Reed will be continuing this cabaret every two weeks for the duration of the shelter in place. Te show included Ryan Long , Devon Khalsa , Daniella Trevino , Ismael Chavez , Jeremiah Porter , and Rachel Webb . View the show here. [ 7 ] Te student created anthology horror web series, Tales of Phantasmagoria (TOP), recently completed a successful crowdfunding campaign for their second season. Between March and April, they raised $3,117 for production. Current and former Texas State University students working on season two are: Duncan Smith , Sophie Misercola , Josh Demings , Casey Glaude , Alexander Vogt , Taylor Wright , Nicole Auringer , Matthew Schlandt , Andrew Withers , Brynn Brewer , BK Frizzell , Cade Prater-Burgess , Camille Duvall , Cassidy Lapierre , Collin Schonhof , Elly Lindsey , Emily Manning , Evan Ledet , Fred Eichholtz , Hanna Hurd , Jahne Zachary , James Brinkley , Jared Dudley , Josh Vetter , Joshua Sanchez , Kaleb Munoz , Lily Connor , Luis Urtado , Mackenzie Lawrence , Mady Mendez , Michael Garcia , Mo Amelbert , Nathan Jiovanni , Peyton Lawrence , Presley Peters , Kolin Raye Pettigrew , Robert Lira , Robert Morris , Ryan Flores , Ryan Walters , Sawyer Pfedderer , Shane Satterfeld , Summer Hawkins , Will Fitzpatrick , and Lily Brummett . [8] In lieu of the annual portfolio review in New York City, the Design Showcase East will now be held online giving students an opportunity to reach a wider audience than usual! Participating in the review are: Sydney Rhiannon Smith (M.F.A. Lighting Design), Alexander Stearns (M.F.A. Costume Design), Monica Pasut (M.F.A. Costume Design), Ryan Sozzi (M.F.A. Costume Design), Carlos Nine-Vila (M.F.A. Lighting Design), Gary Tornsberry (M.F.A. Scenic Design), Maximilian Wallace (B.F.A. Technical Production with a concentration in Lighting and Projection Design), Johnny Painter (B.F.A. Technical Production with a concentration in Lighting Design). Alex Vogt’s short flm I’m Okay With It has been accepted into three flm festivals: Te Short. Sweet. Film Fest in Cleveland Ohio, Te Victoria Texas Film Festival, and Te Lake. James Winnenberg was the sound designer on Te Other Shore and had an interesting and atypical role as a sound/music performer in the play, but it was unfortunately unrealized as the play was cancelled due to COVID-19. Isaac Garza wrote and starred in the short flm Pepito , which was one of three winners of HBO's inaugural Latinx Short Film Competition and is now available on all HBO platforms. Bridget Farias Gates (‘06) is the Artistic Director of the EmilyAnn Teatre and Gardens in Wimberley. Texas. She also teaches drama classes for children called Shakespeare Under the Stars. Tis year, the EmilyAnn won several awards, including Best Live Teatre 2019 (Best of Wimberley), and Best Summer Camp Shakespeare Under the Stars (Both, Best of Hays County). Te EmilyAnn also won 11 Broadway World Austin awards in 2019, including Best Musical and Best Direction of a Musical ( Into the Woods , directed by Bridget Farias Gates), and Best Cast of a Comedy and Best Production of a Comedy for As You Like It . Tat production was directed by Alumni Luke and Beth Jenkins , and won individual Broadway World Austin awards for Bridget Farias Gates (Best Actress in a Comedy ( Rosalind )) and Jessica Brooks Allen (’07), Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy ( Celia ). Mandy Murphy's play From A to Double D was produced by Moxie Arts and had a sold out run at IRT Teater in New York City. Both Mandy and fellow alumni Marisa Jones were part of the intimate cast. Alumni Heather Ross has a radio show about Sex ed and is part of the Austin Artists Show radio collective for 91.7. Ross is also on the board for the station. Alumni Laurel Toupal recently starred in a movie called Pooka Lives which is now streaming on Hulu. Te Direction , written and directed by Audrey Webb , is an ofcial selection for the 2020 Austin Micro Short Film Festival. Webb's directorial debut is scheduled to be screened at the Alamo Lakeline on June 15. A NIGHT OF HOPE Kaitlin Hopkins (pictured) and Cassie Abate collaborated to produce a beneft concert titled Texas State Musical Teatre and Kaitlin Hopkins Present: A Night of Hope . Te concert was streamed on Facebook Live and featured current musical theatre students and alumni. Suggested donations went to the Actors’ Fund and the Shirley Knight Memorial Fund.
