DANCE Dance Studies, Per formance & Choreography, Single Teaching Certif ication, & Dual Teaching Certif ications FACULTY ACCOLADES Ana Baer was invited to film a new screendance work with the MA in Performance and Choreography students from the University of Roehampton, UK. The work called London Vignettes will be screened during their annual concert. [1] Ana Baer ’s screendance Sympoiesis was awarded Best Experimental Short at the Festival de Cine y Multimedia FECIMU, Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was also selected by Cinema of the World International Film Fest, New Delhi, India Ana Baer ’s screendance UrbáTerra Bartzelona was selected by the 10th annual Conference at The School of Performing Arts at the University of Malta and by The Brighton Short Fringe Festival, Brighton, UK. This screendance is a collaborative project by Ana Baer, Amanda McCorkle , Michelle Nance and Heike Salzer with original music from Richard D. Hall . Kaysie Seitz Brown and Torens Johnson , presented STREAM in Motion 9.0 for the community on February 25 and for about 300 San Marcos CISD second graders on February 26 and 27 at the Patti Strickle Harrison Performing Arts Center. They began their tour at Fuentes Elementary Fine Arts Focus Campus in Kyle on March 1. New works included "Ellington Suite," choreographed by Torens Johnson , and "Don’t Dys Me", choreographed by Michelle Nance , in collaboration with the dancers. CIM TEYA was also invited to perform at the TEDx conference on February 24th. [2] Kaysie Seitz Brown and Torens Johnson , continued its tour of STREAM in Motion 9.0 with performances on March 22nd at Main Street Elementary in Taylor, TX, on April 5th at Voigt Elementary Arts Integration Academy in Round Rock, TX, where alumnus Rebekah Balli (2018) teaches, and on April 19 at Berkman Elementary Arts Integration Academy in Round Rock, TX, where alumnus Sierra (Anderson) Clover (2019) teaches. Roxanne Gage produced and directed the Austin Dance Festival Youth Edition where over 200 youth pre-professional dancers came together to participate in masterclasses, pro-chats, college fairs, and dance concerts at the long center in Austin. Brandon Gonzalez taught a master class in Contact Improvisation at the American College Dance Festival, March 20-25. Torens Johnson showcased his work "Divergent" at the American College Dance Association ACDA(UT -Austin) and at {254} DanceFest (Waco). He was also invited to teach master classes {254} DanceFest and at the Regional High School Dance Festival at Texas A&M. Michelle Nance taught a master class in Hawkins technique and chaperoned 22 students at the American College Dance Festival. Michelle Nance ’s piece about dyslexia entitled "Don’t Dys Me" was performed as part of CIM TEYA’s STREAM in Motion 9.0 tour to local elementary schools. Jonathan "JayWAN" Pattiwael together with Basko of Heroes Ris e is one of the best eight crews at Bashville Stampede (Nashville, Tennessee) - National Battle. Together with Fisterra Projects of Austin, Jonathan "JayWAN" Pattiwael hosted Enter the Cypha - a jam benefitting unhoused artists in Austin as part of REST Fest 2024. Pattiwael placed top 4 in the Gathering an open style battle in Seattle, Washington by Soul Shifters and Circle of Fire. He was invited to lecture as a guest artist at Texas Woman's University MFA Dance Program teaching contemporary improvisation workshop in Denton. [3] Jonathan "JayWAN" Pattiwael presented an excerpt of Threading Spirits solo at 254 Dance Fest, sponsored by the Waco Cultural Arts Council in April. Scott Vandenberg was once again asked to function as the production manager for this year's 11th Annual Heller Awards for Young Artists, a Tony Awards style show celebrating the achievements of the greater Austin area high school musical theatre programs. The show performed to a sold-out audience at Dell Hall in the Long Center in Austin, TX and included the work of over 500 performers and over 100 industry professionals from the Austin area. In addition to the awards presented, the evening's festivities included eight production numbers from the Best Production nominated schools as well as four medleys featuring Best Performer and Best Supporting Performer nominees plus two large scale production numbers to open and close the evening's performance. His investigations of the body as a resource for artistic practice led him to develop works across a variety of artistic mediums. Currently, he is working both in the U.S. and throughout Europe. Gonzalez has been teaching Contact Improvisation and producing performances and workshops for over 15 years. As a co-organizing member of the Texas Dance Improvisation Festival, he helped establish one of the largest improv- focused festivals in the country. He is also a DJ and Artistic Director at Ekstasis, a vibrant community ritual- dance event in Austin, Texas. Gonzalez's work pushes an expanded approach to artistic practice that is concerned with how social and political realities are inscribed into our gestures, actions, and perceptions. #ALUMNI SPOTL IGHT
