Professor Kate Glasheen and sophomore Henry DelBello will be performing in A Midsummer Night's Dream with Austin Shakespeare at the Zilker Park Hillside Teater throughout the month of May. Dr. Ana Martínez was awarded the University Series Award to bring Greg Pierotti and Cristiana Giordano to Texas State with their trademark workshop and lecture "Getting Caught: A Collaboration On and Of Stage Between Teatre and Anthropology.” She co-authored the webinar “Status of the Latinx Professoriate at Higher Education Institutions in TX: Transitions, Current Issues, and Challenges Ahead” hosted by TACUSPA (Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators). Dr. Martínez was also invited to a conversation about her book, publications, and current research with Chilean Architect Eduardo Guerrero for his podcast “Crossing City Limits.” You can listen to the sixth installment “Ana Martínez, PhD: Urban Performance / San Marcos” here . Michelle Ney's scenic and costume designs for several productions are currently featured in an exhibit, Te Great Stage of Texas , at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, March 3 - July 24. Te exhibit features the work of thirteen contemporary designers whose scenic, costume, lighting, and projection design work is recognized for excellence in the theatre arts, and is ocated in the Tobin Collection of Teatre Arts and Brown Galleries. Carlos Nine was named the new technical director of Te Public Teatre in San Antonio. Bryan Poyser's short flm Don't you go Nowhere will premiere at the Hill Country Film Festival in Fredericksburg, Texas, in June. Te flm stars acclaimed Austin-based musicians Mac Mcintosh, Taméca Jones and the Michael Hale Trio and was shot entirely at the legendary music club C-Boys in Austin. Several current and former Texas State students worked on the flm, both in front of and behind the camera, including Elisabeth Ledoux , Dizzy Harrison , Candice Bell , Ariel O'Gwin , Tyra Williams and alumni Drake Howard and Taylor Wright . Bryan also served on the Narrative Features Jury for the 2022 Indie Meme Film Festival, which takes place in Austin April 14-24. Te annual Indie Meme Film Festival is the 'go to' destination for unique, powerful stories from South Asia, with flms from countries like India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Iran and more. Caitlin Turnage Shuttee will be attending Te Last Frontier Teatre Conference this summer with her play In a Darkroom, Te Lord Knows which was selected as part of their Play Development series. STUDENT ACCOLADES Diego Arroyo Aceves ( Sophomore B.F.A. Acting) was cast as Mozart in Penfold Teatre Company’s production of Amadeus . [1] Graduating Senior JaVaun Butler will join the Island Shakespeare Festival in Langley, WA for three roles in their summer season. Sydney Cooper will spend the summer in Kilgore as a part of the Texas Shakespeare Festival's Intern Acting Company. She'll appear in Te Taming of the Shrew , Nell Gwynn , Te Music Man , and the world premiere children's play Te Hog Princess . Sophomores Lettie Dyer and Jack Kelly just opened Cover of Life with the Wimberly Players on April 28th. [2] Sophomores Miranda Marquez and Diego Arroyo Aceves recently fnished a run of Amadeus with Penfold Teater in Austin. JTLT hosted “Red Card” and “Tala” a double feature of new works written by Andrea Tejado Olmos and Jasmine Aurelio . Te James W. Price Ten Minute Play Festival opened in April featuring the works of playwriting students Kate Texas State Teatre Department opened their production of Seussical in late April. [3] Te production was directed by M.F.A. directing candidate Ryan Scarlata and the assistant director was AJ Uridales . Nicole Wilkins served as the production stage manager with Ruben Cruz serving as the assistant stage manager. Mackenzie Mulligan served as the lighting designer with Hannah Corbett serving as assistant lighting designer. Te cast featured: Madeline Bourgeois , Lacey Kohn , Albert Igbinigie , Eden Witvoet , Kimmi Zimmermann , Sam Beckman , Maggie Gidden , Anna Gassett , Mia Kaplan , Cameron Tomas , Taylor Aronson , Brandon Doan , Connor Lewis , Emiliano Morale , Paul Amrani , Carson Palmer , Joshua Quidilla , and Chance Friedman .
