Texas State Teatre Department opened their production of Gloria by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins in April. [6] Te play was directed by M.F.A. directing candidate Jess Hawthorne Fiene . Martay Whitfeld served as the assistant director. Kelsey Nelson served as the production stage manager. Ryan Scott Long served as the sound designer, Rachel Aho served as the lighting designer, Ali Gutierrez served as the dramaturg. Te cast included: Yasha Alaniz , Liz Catchings , Parker Dial , Josh Kok , Eric Shawn , Chloe Meinershagen , and Alizzah Maravillas . Blair Medina Baldwin (Musical Teatre ’18) appeared as Liberty in the world premiere of Dael Orlandersmith’s New Age directed by Jade King Carroll. Trevor James Berger (Musical Teatre ’18) appears in the Apple TV+ miniseries WeCrashed starring Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway. Michaela Bolt (Musical Teatre ’17) joined the inaugural cast on board the Carnival Radiance as a lead singer for their Playlist Productions. Jessie Douglas is the new Associate General Manager for Tompson Turner Productions. Two of their recent shows were Mean Girls and Company. Spencer Hansen (Musical Teatre ’17) was cast as Jack in a new workshop of “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County” written by Stephen King and John Mellencamp and directed by Jef Calhoun. Ben Toomer (Musical Teatre ’18) made his Broadway Debut in Girl From Te North Country . Anna Uzele (Musical Teatre ’18) stars in the Apple TV+ series Dear Edward . Phillip Cole White (Musical Teatre ’13) opened Torch Song at Uptown players in Dallas in early April. Jake Bentley Young and Trevor James Berger (Musical Teatre ’20 and ’18) star in the world premiere of Te Karate Kid musical at Stages St. Louis. TJ Young and Liz Fisher (M.F.A. Dramatic Writing and M.F.A. Directing) opened Young’s new play Isle of Noises at James Madison University. Te play serves as a prequel to William Shakespeare’s Te Tempest . Te play was directed by M.F.A. Directing candidate Stacey Hawking with Aili Ortega serving as the assistant director. Faculty member Carlos Nine served as the sound designer.
