College of Fine Arts and Communication 2023 Report
TENURE AND PROMOTION The formal awarding of tenure was codified in 1940 by the American Association of University Professors. In recent years, the scholarly/creative expectation for earning tenure and/or promotion have steadily increased, mirroring Texas State University’s rise in national recognition. In 2016, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching reclassified Texas State University as a “Doctoral University: Higher Research Activity,” the second highest designation for research institutions in the country. The faculty who earned tenure and/or promotion reflect those high standards.
