RETIRED Facul ty and Staf f Kindra Colgin began her Texas State University career as the “office secretary” in August of 1990. Prior to that she received her degree in 1983 at SWT. Kindra provided administrative support alongside LaViece Pauling serving the college with Dean Richard Cheatham. She later accepted the office manager position in Student Publications with Jeff Henderson and was then rehired to fill the senior administrative assistant position in the dean’s office. After Dr. Cheatham’s retirement, she served two other deans; Dr. Timothy Mottet and Dr. John Fleming. Old Main was “home” throughout her 33 year career. In retirement Kindra plans to enjoy her grandchildren and spend time with her family. k i ndra co lg i n 33 y e a r s o f s e rv i c e t i m e ng l and 30 y e a r s o f s e rv i c e Tim England specialized in electronic media messaging. His broadcasting career began in 1974 when he was a high school senior in Glasgow, Kentucky. During his 18 years of industry experience, Tim worked at various times as a deejay, program director, news reporter, news anchor and news director for broadcast stations in Kentucky, Indiana, Virginia and Tennessee. As a news writer, he won several Associated Press awards and a national Public Radio News Directors Association award for daily news coverage. England earned a B.A. degree at Western Kentucky, a M.A. at Indiana University, and received his Ph.D. in communication and political science from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He has received numerous teaching awards, and served as the electronic media program coordinator from 1999-2023. lynn b r i nc kme y e r 18 y e a r s o f s e rv i c e Dr. Lynn M. Brinckmeyer held multiple positions, including professor of music, associate dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication and director of Choral Music Education. During 2006-2008 she served as president for The National Association for Music Education (formerly MENC). Designated a Lowell Mason Fellow for outstanding contributions to the field of music education, Lynn published five books and co-founded the Hill Country Youth Chorus. She conducted, lectured, presented master classes and performed in forty-nine states in the United States and 20+ countries. Lynn will be moving back to West Texas to be closer to her family. 24 College Report 2023 lor i sm i t h 16 y e a r s o f s e rv i c e Lori Beth Smith was initially hired in the Department of Theatre and Dance in 2007 as Administrative Assistant I then promoted to Administrative Assistant II in 2008 to serve as publicity coordinator, front office support and to handle student payroll. In January 2010, she was promoted to Administrative Assistant III for the department. She provided administrative support to the chair and to all faculty, staff, and graduate assistants. During her time with the department, she provided support to three different department chairs and numerous new faculty and guest artists as the department grew, especially in the areas of Musical Theatre and Film. The next fulfilling chapter in Lori’s life will be taking care of her grandson.
