DANCE Faculty Accolades Kaysie Seitz Brown received the TAHPERD 2015 University Dance Educator of the Year Award. Her performing group, CIM TEYA also performed Kaleidoscope at the 92nd Annual TAHPERD Conference venue. In November, Ana Baer Carrillo adjudicated the “Festival de Coreografos Graciela Moreno,” at The National Theatre of Costa Rica, San Jose, Costa Rica. She also taught a workshop entitled “Choreography for the Camera” at CENAC, Salon Compania de Danza in San Jose, Costa Rica. Strutter Director Tammy Fife took the Texas State Strutters to Chicago to perform in the nationally televised McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Strutters performed in the Children’s Health Christmas Parade in Dallas on Dec. 5th, also nationally televised in small markets. Lastly, Tammy directed the S trutters Christmas Spectacular at Texas State, which was a completely sold-out production. Shay Ishii Dance Company was named in Statesman Best of Arts 2015 and one of Austin’s “movers and shakers” of the Austin Dance Scene in Arts and Culture Magazine . Shay Ishii Dance Company will also present Dancestry….Vivid , a celebration of artistic heritage and revival of historic dance. Vivid elaborates on masterworks of modern dance pioneers, Loïe Fuller, Isadora Duncan and Erick Hawkins with contemporary technology and media. Dancestry….Vivid was performed at the Rollins Theatre at the Long Center Friday, January 15 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, January 16 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Dancestry….Vivid was selected by Jean Claire Van Ryzin for the Best of Austin Arts in 2015: Fresh and Forward Thinking . Christa Oliver choreographed Zach Theatre’s holiday show A Christmas Ca rol . Her choreography for the performance was nominated for Best Choreography by the Central Texas Excellence Dancestry production that celebrates the revival of historic dance.
