Faculty Accolades Kyle Glaser’s new edition of “Down to the Sea in Ships” by Robert Russell Bennett has been published by Alfred Publishing Belwin Division. The publisher describes, “This fresh, carefully edited concert band transcription has been extensively researched and will be a cherished addition to serious band literature for generations to come.” Conspirare’s CD “Pablo Neruda: The Poet Sings” has just been announced as a Grammy nominee for Best Choral Performance. Artist in Residence Craig Hella Johnson directs Conspirare, and Faith DeBow played piano on the majority of the recording. The awards were February 15 in Los Angeles. Dr. Martin McCain recently received two Global Music Awards silver medals: in the Emerging Artist category, and for his CD “ Trombone Czar: The Extended Version” released on his independent record label, Kairoi Music. This CD is a compilation of four live remastered tracks from his first EP Trombone Czar: Russian Treasures for Bass Trombone Recorded Live! in addition to featuring premiere recordings of Russian music for the bass trombone and trombone ensemble. Two of those compositions were arranged by f irst-year graduate composition student Jack Wilds . The CD will also be distributed through iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon and Spotify. He presented a Skype masterclass for the Intro to Music Learning and Teaching class at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in December. McCain also launched a new website at www.martinmccain.com. Todd Oxford was an adjudicator for the ENKOR International Chamber Music Competition (Düsseldorf, Germany). Oxford also was hired by the Music Division of Texas University Interscholastic League to edit and update the Class I Solo Saxophone List, used by MUSIC Opera’s production of Speed Dating Tonight! placed 3rd in National Competition.
