DANCE Dance Studies, Per formance & Choreography, Single Teaching Certif ication, & Dual Teaching Certif ications FACULTY ACCOLADES Associate Professor Ana Baer Carrillo filmed and edited the work Parakata at the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary in Michoacan, Mexico in January. Ana also presented TerraBlue with Rosely Conz at the Woman in Dance Conference in New York City. [1] Kaysie Seitz Brown’s proposal, “Teaching Science Through Dance” has been accepted to be presented at the 2nd Joint Congress of daCi (dance and the Child international) and WDA (World Dance Alliance) Global Education and Training Network. Kaysie has also been elected Vice President of the Dance Division of TAHPERD (Texas Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance). In the fall edition of TD&T Magazine (a product of USITT), Dance Division Production Coordinator and Lighting Designer Scott Vandenberg co-authored the cover article with Eliot Gray Fisher of ARCOS Dance. The article explored their design and development process of “Domain” which was produced last fall as part of Engagement: A Symposium of Philosophy and Dance sponsored by the Texas State Department of Philosophy and our Dance Division and performed in the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre. STUDENT ACCOLADES Dance Division majors Hailey Hix and Nan Simms performed the Balinese Pendet dance, tutored by Surapsari, an expert in the field of traditional Indonesian dance alongside Texas State University’s Gamelan Lipi Awan, a performing group directed by Gordon Jones. The students performed at Central Market North in Austin this past November.
