One dealt with the four players from UT who were key contributors when Joe Namath and the New York Jets won what is probably still the most famous Super Bowl game, ffty years ago. Tose players’ feats led to the Jets being dubbed as “UTNY.” Te other story dealt with a look back to 1979 when two of college basketball’s top coaches – Abe Lemons of Texas and Eddie Sutton of Arkansas – almost got into a halftime fstfght. Carlson has what is believed to be the only copy of Lemons’s post-game tirade, and shared it with sports media colleagues several years ago when Lemons was posthumously inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco. Carlson is working with alumna Alanna Sarabia , co-host of WFAA’s TV’s “Good Morning Dallas,” to start a program at WFAA that will enable electronic media students at Texas State to enhance their demo reels for job hunting. Sarabia plans to work with Dr. Tim England, Dr. Ray Niekamp, Mr. Dan Seed and Carlson, to begin bringing students to WFAA for job- shadowing and instruction this year. Kym Fox was part of a panel that discussed “Te Role of the Media in a Polarizing World” as part of Dream Week, San Antonio’s celebration of Martin Luther King.
