Tis latest volume in the cutting-edge BEA Electronic Media Research Series collects some of the top scholars working with big data and analytics today. Tese chapters describe the development and help defne media analytics as an academic discipline and professional practice. Tis book summarizes the insights of of legacy media analysis and social media analytics. His chapter, “Engagement Metrics Tat Matter,” breaks down the diferent engagement metrics available on all the social platforms and how they relate to a brand’s social media strategy. Te chapter also features case studies from brands like We Rate Dogs on how engagements fuels content strategy. [ 1 ] Ad agency Assistant Professors, Dr. Clay Craig and Jenny Buschhorn , represented Texas State University in New York City at the American Advertising Federation's Mosiac 10 awards ceremony on February 11. [ 2 ] Mosaic 10, is a awards program highlighting the top multicultural advertising moments of the year. In a continuing efort to recognize the importance of diversity & inclusion in our industry, the AAF's Mosaic Center launched Mosaic10, a consumer-selected ("by the People") list of the top advertising and multicultural moments of the year. Tis initiative takes a unique and thoughtful approach in highlighting inclusive content and ofers a view into how various audiences perceive the content they consume. During this exclusive event, they had the opportunity to see what consumers chose for the 2019 Mosaic10 and learned about the exciting changes coming to the Mosaic Awards. Dr. Kelly Kaufhold is co-author on a research study which has been accepted to present at the World Media Economics and Management Conference in Rome, Italy, in May of 2020. Te study is called “What’s Wrong with Newspapers’ Digital Readership? An Empirical Analysis of the Top 50 U.S. Newspapers’ online Metrics with the Multidimensional Web Attention Model,” and builds on previous research with three colleagues at other universities. Tis will be Kaufhold’s fourth study on media economics presented or published in the last year, including a presentation in Toronto in August. [ 3] STUDENT ACCOLADES Monica Dyess has been awarded the American Association of Advertising Agencies' Multi-Cultural Advertising Internship Program award. Monica will be spending the summer in New York City as an intern in Media Strategic Planning at Openmind. Te agency is one of the GroupM agencies that focuses on supporting the Nestle Client. Steven Hernandez, Advertising student, has been awarded an American Association of Advertising Agencies' Multi-Cultural Advertising Internship Program award. Steven will be spending the summer in Chicago as an intern in Media Buying and Planning at Mindshare. Te agency is home to clients such as Cheerios, Volvo, Dove, and Axe. Advertising students Amy Rivera and Yessica Rodriguez received an American Advertising Federation's Most Promising Multi-Cultural Student award in New York City on February 12th. Te AAF's Most Promising Multicultural Students program connects the advertising industry with the nation’s top 50 multicultural college seniors. Te program not only honors the students, but enhances their knowledge and understanding of the advertising industry by ofering networking, interviewing and industry immersion opportunities with advertising, marketing, and media professionals. DEANS SEMINAR On February 25, Dr. Cindy Royal gave her Dean's Seminar presentaion titled "Adventures in Media Innovation: Integrating Communication, Curriculum & Culture." Dr. Royal teaches Web development and other courses dealing with communication and technology. Dr. Royal is the 2013 Charles E. Scripps Journalism and Mass Communication Teacher of the Year, presented by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and the Scripps Howard Foundation. In 2013, she received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching from Texas State University. College of Fine Arts and Communication | 11
