through the 26th. Bryan Poser 's short film Don't You Go Nowhere won the Best Narrative Short and the Best Texas Narrative Short Awards at the Denton Black Film Festival. It was also selected to screen at the Sedona International Film Festival in Arizona in February and the Oxford Film Festival in Mississippi and the Annapolis Film Festival in Maryland in March. Also, Bryan's new feature screenplay entitled Bananaversary was selected for the Austin Film Festival's 1st Three Pages LIVE! screenplay reading series, presented at Coldtowne Theater in Austin. [2] Aimee Radics won runner-up for best musical direction for the Broadway World Regional awards for her work on Seussical . Annie Silverstein won an Austin Film Society Grant for Short Films. She won for her documentary BREAKING SILENCE . DEPARTMENT ACCOLADES The cast of Seussical at Texas State was named best Ensemble Performance with the Broadway World Regional Awards. The production of Gloria at Texas State University won Best Play in the Broadway World Regional Awards. The production of Seussical at Texas State University was the runner-up in Best Musical with Broadway World Regional Awards. STUDENT ACCOLADES Yasha Alaniz won Best Performer in a Play in the Broadway World Regional awards for her work in Gloria . Madeline Bourgeois won runner-up for Best Performance in a Musical in the Broadway World Regional Awards for her work in Seussical . Julia Cabrera has been awarded a fellowship with the USITT Gateway Program. A unique, customizable mentorship program that fosters opportunities for those College of Fine Arts and Communication | 19 who identify with an underrepresented population. It allows an individual to work with a mentor to tailor their learning goals and career development while attending the upcoming spring of 2023 USITT conference with the financial support from USITT. In addition, it offers a vast network of industry professionals for mentees to learn and engage with during their time at USITT and beyond. Liz Catching was runner-up in the Broadway World Regional Awards for their performance in a play for the work on Gloria at Texas State. The Moors by Jen Silverman was performed in the PSH Studio Theatre under the artistic direction of Senior Performance and Production major, Shelby Curry with outstanding audience reception. This sold-out show was put together in less than 4 weeks and was the first ever Jeremy Torres Lab Theatre show presented in the Studio Theatre. Starring Nyah Adler , Easley Smith , Hannah Rodriguez , Amber Gipson , Colby Raasch , and Gabriella Velazquez ; other members of the team included Ella Jackson , Ceegan Cabrera , O’Marion Stanley Reed , Andrew Carter , Casey Prowell , Julia Kovar , Paola Sordo , Olivia Singh , Abigail Thompson , Jerron Camp , Mason Wentz , Talya Hammerman , Ava Stewart , Leslie Hill-King , Shelby Breda , Kaitlyn Moccia , Jake Olds , and Hailey Heirmeyer . The Moors achieved its intended goals of highlighting issues with female visibility and generating a conversation about how women are viewed in present day, while providing a much-needed laugh. [3] Jennifer Gonzalez has been awarded the Sherry Wagner-Henry Board Fellowship. She is one of two students that are accepted every year for this fellowship. The Sherry Wagner-Henry Board Fellowship is 12-18-months long, with particular emphasis on finding the future leaders of USITT and investing in their growth. This opportunity serves as a bridge to connect emerging professionals with current leaders in the theatre and entertainment industry, as well as an opportunity to learn new skills that will help the fellow develop valuable expertise on their journey to nonprofit leadership. Jess Hawthorne Fiene was runner-up in the Broadway World Regional Awards for Best Direction of a Play for the play Gloria produced at Texas State.
