DANCE Faculty Accolades Kaysie Seitz Brown and Ana Baer Carrillo co- directed and co-produced Literature in Motion , a free performance for 300 third graders from San Marcos Public Schools at the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre on March 4th. This outreach initiative was in collaboration with the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Ana Baer Carrillo premiered her video dance piece entitled, “A Liminal Space” at the Orchesis Concert at Evans Auditorium in February. In March, Baer co-produced and co- directed iMerge with Christa Oliver at the Harrison Theatre. iMerge featured the Merge Dance Company which consists of the Division of Dance’s most dedicated and gifted students. Merge is a touring ensemble with the goal of recruiting populations who reflect Texas State’s multicultural mission. Within the iMerge concert, Baer screened the video dance pieces “dunes” and “home” with live music by Texas State Mysterium for New Music Ensemble and her original choreography entitled, “Desterrados” premiered as well. Lastly, Baer’s video piece entitled, “Only Stars Are Perfect” was also showcased at iMerge . Nicole Wesley was a Faculty Mentor for Orchesis Dance Company and their production of Here nor There at Evans Auditorium February 11th and 12th. In March, Wesley attended and performed the work I.T.L.O.T.H at Society of Composers (SCI) Region III Conference held at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. Also in March, Wesley performed her choreography “Only Stars Are Perfect” at iMerge at the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre. Student Accolades Dance majors Rose Troche , Anthony Castillo , and Rebekah Balli were accepted to the Joffrey Jazz & Contemporary Summer Intensive and they were each awarded scholarships to attend. Our dance majors performed with the Irish Merge dancers Rose Troche and Anthony Castillo in iMerge
