College of Fine Arts and Communication | 13 Co lege of Fine Arts and Communication | 9 1 Assistant Professor Nandini Bhalla 2 Associate Professor Laurie Fluker 3 Judy Oskam, Professor and Director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication 10 | March | College News JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION Advertising, Digital Media Innovation, Electronic Media , Mass Communication, Journalism, & Public Relations FACULTY ACCOLADES Nandini Bhalla [1] published her frst solo-authored paper titled "Examining the Impact of Issue Salience, Issue Proximity, Situational Motivation, and Communicative Behaviors on Environmental CSR Outcomes" in February. It is a piece from her dissertation, which has been published in Sustainability , a journal with a high impact factor. Nandini performs research in strategic communication with a focus on international communication and corporate social responsibility with an emphasis on social issues such as diversity and environmental activism. Laurie Fluker [2] received the Erma Johnson Hadley Faculty of the Year from the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education (TABPHE) last week. Tis award is named after one of TABPHE's founders, Mrs. Erma Johnson Hadley. She served over 30 years in executive leadership at Tarrant County College District and had extensive experience in administration, negotiations, public policy design and advocacy at the city, state, national and international level. She was the frst woman and frst African-American vice chancellor at the college. Johnson Hadley had numerous professional afliations, including the American Management Association and TABPHE, where she served as state president. She was international treasurer of the Links, Incorporated, and served as chairman of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Board. In January, Dr. Judy Oskam [3] interviewed her Texas State University colleague, Dr. Cassandra LeClair , on her podcast titled "Stories of Change & Creativity." C3 The Center for Communication, Collaboration & Creativit y (C3) REP FUNDING All faculty are invited to learn more about how to fnd external funding for their research and creative projects by using the PIVOT Funding Database. Pre-Award Research Coordinator, Matthew Winn will lead this workshop. Matthew has successfully used PIVOT over the past fve years to help faculty fnd external funding for their projects. Te hour-long workshop will be held via Zoom on Friday, April 22, at 3PM. Tis workshop will include a live demonstration of how to create a PIVOT account, how to actively create and save funding searches, how to passively receive weekly emails with new funding opportunities, and advice on how to get the most out of PIVOT through advanced searches.
