You can check out the interview here. Micaela Lamas (Musical Teatre) was on SNL featured as an extra dancing in one of the sketches hosted by John Mulaney with musical guest LCD Soundsystem. Ian Saunders (Musical Teatre) joined Step One Dance Company with RWS. Ian began dancing in shows with Hollan America’s Cruise Line on the west coast. Jon Stringer is doing a 3-week run performing stand-up comedy on the Holland America Koningsdam cruise ship. DEPARTMENT ACCOLADES Texas State Bobcats dominated at the Kennedy Center American College Teatre Festival this year. Twenty- three Playwriting and Design, Technology, and Management students from the Department of Teatre and Dance recently participated in adjudicated events at the annual Region 6 Kennedy Center American College Teatre Festival. Te four-day festival, held virtually this year, boasted speakers and adjudicators from professional and university theatres across the country. Eligible students submitted work from class projects, partially realized, and/or fully realized productions from 2021. Participating students included Mkayla Edwards , Jaiden Compuesto , Eric Dekowski , Kylie Gutierrez , Wallis Brown , Devon Khalsa , Zach Masso , MacKenzie Mulligan , Rossina Lozoya , AnnDee Alvidrez , Rachel Aho , Brennon Cope , Brydon Lidle , Katherine Brand , Gene Brown , Sara Fusco , Ruben Cruz , Lydia Landrum , Harriet Butler , Nicole Wilkins , Jai Auzenne , Vanessa Gutierrez , and Kelsey Nelson . You can see their submissions for Scenic Design, Costume Design, Lighting Design, Sound Design, and Allied Crafts showcased on our website. Our Bobcats received the following awards at this year’s festival—Best Costume Design by Rossina Loyoza , Best Lighting Design Presentation by Brydon Lidle and MacKenzie Mulligan , Best Scenic Presentation by AnnDee Alvidrez , Best Sound Design Presentation by Brennon Cope , Best Allied Crafts Presentation by Sara Fusco , Best Design Presentation overall by Sara Fusco and Rossino Lozoya , Kylie Guttierez and Wallis Brown were both John Cauble One Act Regional Finalists. Devon Khalsa was a Gary Garrison Ten Minute Play Award Regional Finalist. Don Childs Award for Cross Discipline Collaboration went to AnnDee Alvidrez for El Nogalar . [4] Te Jane Childs Legacy Award for First Time Presenters went to Brydon Lidle for Yellow Inn . [5] Te SPAM (Society of Props Artisans Mangers) Award went to Sara Fusco for Mask Making . Te Regional Meritorious Achievement in Sound Design (National Runner-up) went to Brennon Cope for El Nogalar . [4] Te Jim Anderson Outlaw Playwright Award went to Zach Masso for Te Scottish Queen's Play . Te Barbizon Award for Teatrical Design Excellence in Costume Design went to Rossina Lozoya for El Nogalar . [4] Te Barbizon Award for Teatrical Design Excellence in Lighting Design went to MacKenzie Mulligan for Oedipus . Te Barbizon Award for Teatrical Design Excellence in Scenic Design went to AnnDee Alvidrez for El Nogalar . [4] Te Allied Crafts and Technology Award went to Gene Brown for being the Cutter/Draper for Oedipus . Te National Stage Management Fellowship went to Jai Auzenne for Rewritten . In addition to the above individual awards, the design team for El Nogalar [4] won two group awards: Te Regional Collaboration and Design Excellence and the Region 6 RED (Representation-Equality-Diversity) Award. FATHER COMES HOME FROM THE WARS FEBRUARY 17 – 20 Texas State Teatre Department opened their production of Father Comes Home From the Wars Parts I and II in late February. [6] Te production was directed by M.F.A. directing candidates Reina Jabbour (Part I) and Peter Ongolo (Part II). Undergraduate Amber Gipson was the assistant director. Kelsey Nelson and Lydia Landrum served as the stage manager and assistant stage manager on the production. Brennon Cope served as the sound designer. Jennifer Gonzalez served as the lighting designer for part II. Katherine Brand served as the costume designer. Te cast included: Mason Asberry , Labrina Bedell , Javaun Ryal Butler , Adetutu Saliu , Sydney Cooper , Savanah Downing , Mtalazia Stone , Konnor Sheppard , and Chris Frey . 179
