Kathleen McShane Bolton’s solo show, Island, Oasis, Mirage , opens January 13, 2017 at Bill Davenport Gallery Optical Project in Houston. [ 1 ] Shawn Camp’s solo show Angle of Refraction opened at Shoal Creek Gallery in Austin on November 12. He has recently completed a large-scale painting commissioned by KMG Chemical for their offices in Fort Worth and participated in Co-Lab’s Art of the Brew and Women and Their Work’s Red Dot Art Spree. He also served as juror of 2D Abstraction for Art Hop at the Georgetown Art Center last month. Shawn was selected for the Austin Art Boards program for 2016. An interview with Shawn about his current show Angle of Refraction is included in Aether Magazine . [ 2 ] Chad Dawkins , Margo Handwerker , Mark Menjivar , Liz Rodda , Molly Sherman and Jennifer Stob launched FEED on October 31, a project space dedicated to expanded media situated in the first-floor alcove under the main stairs in the Joann Cole Mitte building. FEED presents moving images by worldwide creators to nourish a deeper understanding of time- and process-based art. Erina Duganne gave a paper, “Group Material’s ‘Art for the Future’: Visualizing Transnational Solidarity at the End of the Cold War,” at the Cold Atlantic International Conference in Madrid, Spain. The conference was hosted by the Museum Reina Sofía, Saint Louis University, Universidad de Barcelona, and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in collaboration with Terra Foundation for American Art. Erina is an invited speaker for the upcoming panel, “The New America: Immigration, Demographic Change and Political Power in the ‘Gap States’” at New Cities, Future Ruins, a 2 | November & December | College News
