COMMUNICATION STUDIES Communication Studies, Health Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Leadership Studies, Organizational Communication, Persuasive Communication, Political Communication, & Teacher Certif ication in Communication Studies FACULTY ACCOLADES Steven Beebe was recognized with the Faculty Senate Everette Swinney Teaching Award, given to faculty members who have combined their commitment to teaching with strong records of creative achievement, service, and mentoring peers and students. He also received the National Communication Association Training and Development Division Lifetime Achievement Award. Steven and communication studies colleague Seth Frei published “Teaching Communication to Working Adults” in the Handbook of Communication Science . He also presented a campus- wide address to Wisconsin Lutheran College entitled “C. S. Lewis and The Screwtape Letters: A Devil’s Guide to Communication.” Steven presented papers to the recent NCA conference, “Uniting communication principles to enhance collaboration with international scholars and educators: Perspectives and experiences,” and “On being N.I.C.E.: Leadership lessons from C. S. Lewis found in That Hideous Strength .” He also served as a respondent on two panel discussions, “Reflections on the ‘Civic Callings’ of Communication Week and Visiting Scholar Programs,” and “Communication Lessons from C. S. Lewis.” Stephanie Dailey published “Understanding healthcare providers’ professional identification: The role of interprofessional communication in the vocational socialization of physicians” in the Journal of Interprofessional Education & Practice . The article was co- authored with M.A. program alum Brenda McArthur (based on her thesis) and Melinda Villagran.
