THEATRE Acting, Musical Theatre, Per formance and Production, Teacher Certif ication in Theatre, Technical Production, & Theatre FACULTY ACCOLADES Carl Booker presented workshop on armor-making using thermos-plastics to over 70 high school students at the annual International Thespians Texas Convention in Dallas. The convention was attended by 8000 students. Linda Breining curated an evening of #MeToo stories at the Vortex Theatre in Austin in early December. The event was a benefit for SafePlace, which provides housing, healing, and support for individuals and families affected by domestic violence and sexual abuse. Students, Jayden Reider and Sabrina Sanford also participated. In October and November, Michelle Dahlenburg performed in a sold-out run of Soundstage 23 , an improvised musical at the Hideout Theatre in Austin. Inspired by La La Land and Singing in the Rain , Soundstage 23 explores the on and offstage lives of the cast and crew of classic Hollywood cinematic musicals. John Fleming wrote the introduction to a bilingual edition of Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead . [ 1 ] He also gave an invited talk on Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at L’Université de Toulouse in France. Dr. Fleming is an internationally recognized expert on the works of Tom Stoppard. Kaitlin Hopkins has given invited presentations of her work on “Mental Wellness and Performing Artists” at Harvard University, the Cleveland Musical Theatre Intensive and The High School of Visual and Performing Arts in Houston. In addition, she was invited to present “The Power of Your Story- The Perfect Elevator Speech” to the MSB students at University of Texas Business School - San Antonio as part of the Career Action Program Conference. Rose , an independent feature film written and directed by Rod McCall, had a world premiere at the Lone Star Film Festival in Ft. Worth in October.
