Beverley Penn Perpendicular to the Force of Gravity Barry Stone Daily in a Nimble Sea Texas State Galleries’ Last Supper exhibition ART AND DESIGN Art , Art Education, Art Histor y, Communication Design, Photography, & Studio Art FACULTY ACCOLADES Kathleen McShane Bolton was awarded a Tyrone Guthrie Centre collaborative summer residency and exhibition in Annaghmakerrig Ireland, with an Italian artist and a fellow American artist. Joey Fauerso’s work will be exhibited at the Brownsville Museum of Art in the show Seeing The Unseen -Amado, Fauerso, Robinson, Sauter . In conjunction to SOFA Chicago Expo, Laritza Garcia’s work will showcase in (Dis)Functional an exhibition of contemporary art jewelry that brings to light the artist’s process from concept to materialization. As part of the M12 collective, Margo Handwerker performed at the Autry Museum of the American West on November 1. Sean Justice has been chosen as the 2017 TAEA Higher Education Division Outstanding Art Educator. Sean’s launching of multiple initiatives in our communities has strengthened campus and community ties. Sean will be serving as a Trends co-editor, with Cala Coats of Stephen F. Austin State University, producing the 2018 issue of Trends . Sean will be honored as recipient of this award at the TAEA Conference in Galveston. MiHyun Kim was awarded the San Marcos Arts Commission grant in the amount of $3,000 for a project called Mermaid Tales: A Mobile App to Preserve History and Arts in San Marcos and a workshop followed by Spatial Augmented Reality Installation. Mark Menjivar was included in the exhibition re/thinking photography at Fotofest International in Houston. It is the seventh exhibition in the Texas series, a biennial survey of Texas artists initiated by FotoFest in 2004 and co- produced with HCP, since 2009. Mark’s on-going project “Migration Stories” was performed at the East Portland Arts & Literary Festival in Portland. 2 | November & December | College News 1 2 3
