College of Fine Arts and Communication 4 Te Magic Flute , a Texas State University Opera production, featuring lyric and scene adaptation by Caitlin Turnage 5 Texas State Teatre and Dance's production of Little Women , directed by Alex Rodriguez 6 Texas State Teatre and Dance's production of Little Women , directed by Alex Rodriguez 20 | November & December | College News project he is mentoring, Burning Field written by Jonghee Woo, will run February 15th and 16th at ARKO Daeharko Art Teatre in Seoul, South Korea. STUDENT ACCOLADES Dave Bravo (B.F.A. Technical Production) was a Stage Management Intern at the ZACHTeatre in Austinfor their production of A Christmas Carol during the fall. B.F.A. Performance and Production major Kelly Ducat advanced to KCACTF region 6 with her one act play. B.F.A. Performance and Production major Madison Miller advanced to KCACTF region 6 with her ten minute play Luck of the Cards . MacKenzie Mulligan (M.F.A. Teatre, Lighting Design) was Assistant Lighting Designer for A Christmas Carol: A Rockin’ Family Musical at ZACHTeatre in Austin. Carlos R. Nine (M.F.A. Teatre, Lighting Design) designed the lighting for Charlie Brown’s Christmas Spectacular at King’s Dominion in Virginia. B.F.A. Performance and Production major Yasmin Al- Omair-Nuncio advanced to KCACTF region 6 with her ten minute play Te Red Couch . B.F.A. Acting major Payton Russell advanced to KCACTF region 6 with her one act play. B.F.A. Acting major Lila Perlman advanced to KCACTF region 6 with her one act play and two ten minute plays. Tird year M.F.A. candidate (Directing) Allison Price opened and directed the musical Daddy Long Legs to a sold out house in late November at Texas State University. Second year M.F.A. Candidate (Dramatic Writing) Vic Shuttee advanced to KCACTF region 6 with his one act play Not Every Hand . ALUMNI ACCOLADES Texas State Alumni Richeler "Rich" Aladin’s most recent short flm Te Masked 4 won two awards at Austin IndieFest for Best Action Adventure and Best Long Short Film. Te Masked 4 has also been selected in a total of 7 flm festivals. Musical Teatre Alumni Michael Burrell (‘17) opened An American in Paris at the Téâtre du Châtelet in France! Musical Teatre Alumni Johnny Brantley III (‘16) performed in the Macy’s Tanksgiving Day Parade with the cast of Beetlejuice . Oscar Cabrera’s new play Maybe You Should Just had a reading at Te Public Teater in NYC; he is part of their Emerging Writer’s Group. Musical Teatre Alumni Julia Estrada (‘17) made her debut in Hamilton on the Philip Tour. Julia also covers all three Schuyler Sisters. Liz Fisher (M.F.A. 2018) was nominated by Broadway World Austin’s Best direction of a Drama for We Are Proud to Present…” Musical Teatre Alumni Junior Gomez (‘18) opened Amadeu s at the Folger Teatre in DC. Musical Teatre alumni Sophia Ludovici (‘20), Logan- Rae Floyd (‘19), Grace Muawad (‘19), Spencer D. Hansen (‘17), CK Anderson (‘19), and Brian Corkum (‘18) danced for Idina Menzel at the NYC Saks 5th Avenue Holiday Window. Alumni Mandy Murphy’s award-winning play From A to Double D will be at the IRT Teater in NYC. Brandon Rosen (B.F.A. Design & Technology) was recently accepted to United Scenic Artists Local 829, Lighting; the union representing professional theatre designers. He will be assisting Natasha Katz on her lighting design for Dianaon on Broadway in the spring. Te Magic Flute produced at Texas State University won third place in the National Opera Association Production Competition for the 2018-2019 cycle. [4] Te lyrics and scenes were adapted by M.F.A. Dramatic Writing Alumni Caitlin Turnage . DEPARTMENT ACCOLADES Alex Rodriguez , third year M.F.A. in direction, opened a critically acclaimed production of Little Women in the Patti Strickel Harrison Teatre in late November. [ 5 - 6] Louisa May Alcott’s long-beloved Little Women tells the story of the March sisters, young women living during LYDIA Lydia , a family saga about the Flores family living in El Paso during the 1970's, played to sold out houses in the PSH Foundation Teatre in November. Te production was directed by second year M.F.A. directing candidate Hollie Nanes . Te cast included: Brenda Salas , Lilith Tijerina , Sarah Tijerina , Lisette Sandoval-Perez , Jon Costa , Branon Ivan Castillo , Emeterio “Emit” Quintero , and Anastacio Gutierrez .
