James Winnenberg (’20 B.F.A. in Technical Production) has been working for Paul Gore Productions in Dallas, as an audio technician making documentary-style recordings on diferent corporate and sporting events, including a Dallas Mavericks game. ALUMNI ACCOLADES CK Anderson (MT ’19) appeared in Occupy the Stage a 48 hour virtual theatre marathon featuring plays by women and all marginalized genders. CK was featured in Te Devils Between Us , Why are you Like Tis , and Toteon . Te 40 plays were read virtually in November via Women’s Teatre Festival’s youtube channel. Liz Fisher was nominated for an B. Iden Payne Award for her direction on Ghost Quartet with Penfold Teatre and won the B. Iden Payne Award for Outstanding Movement Design along with her cast for Ghost Quartet with Penfold Teatre. [4] Daniel Grisko and Kelsey Moringy won the B. Iden Payne Award for Outstanding Stage Management for their work on Next to Normal . Beau Harmon (MT ’20) was featured in Spotify’s newest original podcast “Class of 2020 speaks.” Beau was featured on a billboard in Penn Plaza in NYC to promote the show. Juliette Redden (MT ’19) performed as Anne Shirley in the new Anne of Green Gables concept album. It begin to play with Godspeed Musicals in 2021. Shane Satterfeld was nominated for a B. Iden Payne Award for his role as Dave in Ghost Quartet with Penfold Teatre. [4] Riley Wesson won a B. Iden Payne Award for his work as Gabe in Next to Normal with Ground Floor Teatre and Deaf Austin Teatre. DEPARTMENT ACCOLADES In October, the department digitally presented A Piece of My Heart directed by second year M.F.A. Ryan Scarlata . Te play featured: Grace Hickey , Jasmine Aurelio , Juliana Lamia , Jonaee’ Davis , Liz Catchings , Camille Duvall , and John Fredrickson . Moderators from TSDCA coached the teams, and were made up of some of the fnest sound designers in the world. In November, the department presented Mazkapan , a new musical workshop in collaboration with Adam Quinn and Jared Goldsmith. Te musical was presented as an audio play and featured B.F.A. Musical theatre majors: Jeremiah Porter , Preston Perez , Micaela Lamas , Riley Edwards , Cayla Primous , Macy Skaggs , Austin Kelly , Anyae Reed , Kyra Belle Johnson , Emma Smith , Payton Bioletto , Juliana Lamia , Lexi Ganong , Hailey Tomas , Marcus Brooks , John Fredrickson , Colin Trudell , Zephaniah Wages , Connor Lewis , Ian Deane , Paul Amrani , Eden Witvoet , Emiliano Morales , and Kaleb Quinn . Te Texas State Teatre program presented Tey Scream in Silence as Te Horizon Leans Forward . It was choreographed by Christian Warner, produced by faculty members Kaitlin Hopkins and Cassie Abate and funded by the Harrison New Works Commission. Te Texas State Teatre program digitally presented Love and Information directed by second year M.F.A. directing candidate Martin J Asprey . Te play featured: Rachel Arguello , Marcus Brooks , Sarah Reese , Devon Khalsa , Hank Johnson , Nick Dondero , Ariel O’Gwin , Mariah Epps , Britain Stibora , Chris Frey, Jack Monzingo , Mallory Keeler , Ava Baker , Hunter Ginn , Vivian Noble , Raleigh Turner , and Taylor Childress . Te Texas State Teatre program presented a digital reading and workshop of third year dramatic writing candidate Vic Shuttee’s play PEW PEW! Directed by second year M.F.A. Directing candidate Ryan Scarlata . Te play featured: Mallory Keeler , Brianna Resendez , Hailey Tomas , Max Hanesworth , Diego Huocano , Jack Kelley , Lexi Ganong , Elysa Aguilar , Emma Espada , and Cameron Keith . Te Regency Ball , an exhibition of dress from the period, was presented in the Harrison Teatre on November 19 & 20 showcasing the design and construction work of students in the M.F.A. Costume Design and B.F.A. Technical Production Costume Production emphasis programs. Te ball was produced by Associate Professor of Costume Design, Brandon R. McWilliams , and managed by Costume Director Monica Pasut , and Head Draper, Carl Booker . [ 5 ] Te students in the Advanced Sound Design class (TH 4344) participated in an art installation collaboration with the Texas State Art Gallery. Te piece was called Aural Footsteps , and was a sound intervention that accompanied an existing work called Hostile Terrain 94 curated by an anthropologist named Jason De León. Based on feld data, participants flled out death occurrence tags (or toe tags) for each immigrant who lost their life while making the journey across the brutally harsh landscape, and placed them on a wall map of the region. Te sound design students composed and arranged a 12 minute sound piece that included footsteps on sand and gravel, wind, wildlife, and original music that the view could listen to while viewing the exhibit using their smart phone and headphones when a QR code was scanned. Also, the same class worked with writing award winners from the English Department to convert their poem, short story, and non-fction writing into Audiobooks. Tey collaborated with the writers located in Boston, Houston, and southern Germany to bring their work to a new format. Te students included: Samuel Bell , Brennon Cope , Andre Dinh , Ryan Long , Cristian Ramos , and Christopher Stokes . #GRAMMYAWARDS Forest VanDyke (B.F.A. Acting 2007) is one of three vocalists on Gregg Austin’s album Dialogues on Race ; it has just been nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album category.
