16 | November & December | College News THEATRE Acting, Musical Theatre, Per formance and Production, Teacher Certif ication in Theatre, Technical Production, & Theatre FACULTY ACCOLADES Betty Buckley was honored for the 40th anniversary of starting Women In Film Dallas in late May. Buckley began production of the feature documentary What’s the Story Wishbone based on her PBS children’s TV series, now owned by Mattel. Bethany Corey-Ekin served as the playwright for the Theatre for the Very Young piece Dog’s Job which was produced by Trike Theatre and presented at Crystal Bridges Grand Hall in November after touring NW Arkansas for over 3 months. Yesenia Garcia Herrington appeared in an invited staged reading of The Return by award-winning independent film- maker Miguel Alvarez at the Austin Film Festival. She was joined by Felix Solis ( Ozark, The Good Wife) and Audrey Esparza ( Blindspot). [1] Ana Martínez has two new publications: "Relics, Effects, and Bones: Migrancy Material Traces in Performance," included in the edited book Puppet and Spirit: Ritual, Re- ligion, and Performing Objects: Volume II (Routledge), and ¿ Qué vamos a comer? Colombia's Mojojoy! co-authored with Juan Ochoa and Verónica Martínez, included in Perfor- mance Research 28, no. 7 . See here. [2] Ana Martínez was invited by Universidad Areandina and Universidad Pedagógica Nacional of Colombia as a guest speaker and gave presentations about her current research on Latin American Theatre, Performance Design, and Environmentalism. She also participated and presented a paper in the working session "Re-existence: Temporali- ties and ecologies of change in the Américas" at the 2024 American Society for Theatre Research, ASTR, conference in Seattle. Dr. Martínez is honored to have been recog- nized as Favorite Professor by Texas State's Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. Linda Nenno Breining won a B. Iden Payne Award for Best Short Play for her opera, An Artist's Regrets , that she wrote with Nell Clowder, produced by One Ounce Opera.
