To fly on campus, permission was received from Risk Management, UPD and the San Marcos Airport. Attendees consisted of members of the Innovation Club and students from professor Dale Blasingame’s Drone Storytelling course. Jenny Buschhorn and Dr. Clay Craig were finalists in this year’s AAF Austin Big Wigs Educator of the year. Kym Fox gave two presentations at the Investigative Reporters and Editors symposium on Diversity, Belonging, Equity and Inclusion (DBEI) in October. The sessions were How to Include Investigating Inequity into Your Curriculum No Matter the Course, and College Press Freedom 101. They featured professional journalists and faculty from several universities. Dr. Vanessa de Macedo Higgins Joyce led a group of Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas fellows in a recent co-authored publication analyzing how local, national, regional and global networks of power intersect in this digital era and impact journalism. Their research, entitled “Spatial dimensions within hierarchy of influences: How re-conceived notions of space in networked societies impact Latin American journalists” was recently published in the journal International Communication Gazette .
