4 | November & December | College News Dana Robinson’s Just Us Chickens curated by Rebecca Marino was featured in Joseph R. Wolin’s “Dana Robinson: ‘Just Us Chickens’ at Texas State Galleries, San Marcos,” Glasstire. Mark Menjivar and Jason Reed participated in a panel discussion at the Washington State History Museum as part of closing events for their Borderland Collective exhibition All the Sacrifices You’ve Made / Todos Los Sacrificios Que Has Hecho . Mark Menjivar was a featured artist at Artpace’s 2022 Chalk It Up event. He also participated in the performance DAM: A Song of Water, an exploration of sound and mindfulness at the historic Espada Dam in San Antonio. The event was funded and co-hosted by the City of San Antonio and the National Park Service. Menjívar visited Haverford College in Pennsylvania as a speaker in their Distinguished Visitor Program. He is working with students and faculty on various projects this academic year as part of their Imagining Abolitionist Futures program. [6] Mark was a visiting speaker for the Art and Public Action Department at Bennington College in Vermont. He led a workshop in the Border Theology course at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Mark released a new publication, Holding Vigil (published by Thick Press) at the 2022 Printed Matter New York Art Book Fair. He also led an evening of programing in the Wall, Table, Lexicon: Publishing as Rehearsal project space. Dr. Ilayda Altuntas Nott has been selected to serve as a scorer for 2023 spring educative Teacher Performance Assessment. She recently published two articles. First, she co- authored “Defamiliarizing a Walk (2022)” with Dr. Kimberly Powell and artist-educator Michael Bricker. The article chronicles the development of walking workshops through a technique of defamiliarization to dislodge the taken-for-granted and open up walking to experimentation and novelty. She also wrote “Sounding Art Practice as Research (SAPAR): Soundwalking the border (2022)” for a column in National Art Education Estéban Hinojosa took students on a field trip to the San Antonio Museum of Art Alice J Lee’s solo exhibition, Between Two , at the Juanita Harvey Art Gallery at Midwestern State University Mark Menjívar visit Haveerford College as a speaker in theri distinguished Visitor Program 4 6 5
