dance teachers at McCallum HS. She will be talking about our pre-professional dance company, Merge, and will teach a master class in the Horton Technique. LeAnne Smith served as the dance liaison for “Engagement: Symposium of Philosophy and Dance.” In addition she was a presenter for 2 panels: “FSC: Northrop’s 1st and 2nd Function Art and its Impact on the Work of Erick Hawkins” and “Erick Hawkins Dance Technique: A Philosophical Journey Towards a Body-Centered Technique.” LeAnne also performed during the Symposium’s concert series, dancing in choreography by Shay Ishii, “Above, Beyond, Below.” She has just returned from Portland, Oregon where she worked with Body Mind Centering Master Teacher, Wendy Hambidge. STUDENT ACCOLADES Current BFA students Shuan Davis , Rose Troche , Francesca Iannelli and Anthony Castillo were accepted into the Mark Morris Summer Intensive. “ THE M WORD ” WELCOME MS. SONJA DUMAS Nicole Wesley hosted Ms. Sonja Dumas [ 3] , an artist and scholar from Trinidad. Ms. Dumas set two works, “The M Word” and “Directions,” on Merge Dance Company, as well as, taught technique classes and gave lectures on Caribbean dance. Nicole will also perform I.T.L.O.T.H. in collaboration with flutist Dr. Tif Holmes and sound designer Dr. Justin Houser at the Electronic Music Midwest Conference at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois.
