JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION Advertising, Digital Media Innovation, Electronic Media , Mass Communication, Journalism, & Public Relations FACULTY ACCOLADES Dale Blasingame presented a paper titled “From online to outside: An experiment in teaching digital skills at a state park” at the Designs on eLearning conference, which was hosted at The New School in New York City. The theme of the conference was anxiety and stress in experimental learning, and Blasingame highlighted feedback on the topic from students who took part in his mobile storytelling in the parks course. Emily A. Ehmer’s manuscript , “Coverage of Burmese Refugees in Indiana News Media: An Analysis of Textual and Visual Frames,” [ 1 ] was recently published in Journalism: Theory, Practice & Criticism . Ehmer and co-author Dr. Ammina Kothari of Rochester Institute of Technology collaborated on the mixed methods research project. Judy Oskam [ 2 ] presented a paper titled “Brand Building and Faculty Development” at the Designs on eLearning conference, which was hosted at The New School in New York City in September 2016. In August, Holly Wise [ 3] presented at the AEJMC conference, the largest member organization for journalism educators. She delivered a presentation on solutions journalism and ways to teach it in the classroom. Holly was invited to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to deliver two days of guest lectures about solutions journalism. She presented directly to students in the classroom, as well as to faculty members and special project groups. She was also invited to the University of Colorado-Boulder in September to deliver two days of guest lectures about solutions journalism. In addition to meeting with faculty, she also gave in- class presentations and was the featured speaker for the college’s colloquial luncheon. 1 2 3 Emily A.
