4 M.A. student, Morgan Cessac was selected to serve on the Texas State University Presidential Council on Inclusive Excellence 5 Morgan Litrenta giving her presentation, "Te fetishization of queer women" 6 Terrianna Singletary giving her presentation, "Housing insecurity on college campuses and how it afects the POC community" 8 | October | College News in September. Tianna is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Oklahoma. Carol L Patterson (B.A., 2006) teaches at South Houston Early College High School. She is part of the Advancement Via Individualized Determination program, which teaches college and career readiness skills students need to be successful life-long learners. She is a 10th grade teacher on an early college campus with her taking dual credit college courses. STUDENT ACCOLADES M.A. student Morgan Cessac [4] was selected to serve on the Texas State University Presidential Council on Inclusive Excellence. Te committee will ofer feedback on issues related to justice, equity and diversity, including the development of strategies for fostering an inclusive learning, research, and work environment. Morgan Litrenta presented "Te fetishization of queer women" to the African American Communication and Culture #ScholarStrike Conference in September. [ 5 ] Terrianna Singletary presented "Housing insecurity on college campuses and how it afects the POC community" to the African American Communication and Culture #ScholarStrike Conference in September. [6] M.A. student Riki Van Meter will receive a top student paper award at the National Communication Association conference in November for, "Metaphor and poetic style used by David Hogg" from the Activism and Social Justice Division. DEPARTMENT ACCOLADES Te Department of Communication Studies hosted its frst virtual Career Readiness event on October 1st. Te event featured a panel of alumni discussing best practices related to “Acing the Interview.” Te panelists were experts in interviewing and shared what they have learned about the interview process since graduating. Te alumni panel participants were Jackie Nelson , Joey Kuykendall , Susan Cunningham , and Kamarie Carter . Te Career Readiness Program, led by Dr. Michael Burns , plans to host several more events during the fall semester featuring Texas State Alumni.
