Fall 2020 issue of Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly . Te article is one of the frst to address the practical and theoretical implications of this new and emerging role. Dr. Royal was named to the Steering Committee of the News Product Alliance (newsproduct.org) . Launched in September 2020, and now with more than 1000 members, the goal of the organization is to provide support and resources to those working in product management positions in news organizations. Dr. Royal is working with NPA to assist with researching the community. [ 2 ] ALUMNI ACCOLADES Gloria Campos Brown (1976) was named a Texas state University Distinguished Alumnus. She is a retired award-winning news anchor for WFAA-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth. After her 40-year career in television news, Campos Brown remains a sought- after speaker and moderator, having moderated discussions with Sonia Sotomayor, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, Jill Biden, Gloria Steinem, Molly Ringwald, Cynthia Nixon, and many others. STUDENT ACCOLADES Ashlyn Cramblit has been selected as a member of the American Advertising Federation's (AAF) inaugural National Student Advisory Council Committee. Tis vetted group of AAF College Chapter members will serve as the student voice for Education leadership. SCHOOL ACCOLADES KTSW 89.9, managed by Dan Schumacher , is a fnalist in four total categories for the College Broadcasters, Inc. National Student Production Awards. Current and former KTSW 89.9 staf members and the categories in which they are fnalists include: Best PSA "Te Writing Center" ( Adam Snydar and Sam Zamora ); Best Hard News Reporting "Clery Act Misreporting" ( Juan Garcia ); Best Sportscast "March 11, 2020" ( Ethan Quintero ); and Best General Entertainment Program "Studio C: Retirement Party" (Director: Eric Hernandez , Producer: Dylan Holland , Sound Producer: Emilee Biles , Camera Operators: Brandon Mathis , Mariana Ramos , Editor: Mariana Ramos ). Te award winners were announced during the CBI, Inc. National Student Electronic Media Convention, online from October 28 - 30. COLLECTOR OF PARKS Assistant Professor of Practice, Dale Blasingame was recently featured in the Dallas Observer article "Dale Blasingame, Collector of Parks, Wants to See Everything" for his love of parks. Dale has visited every state park in Texas and now he is on a mission to visit every National Park in America. [ 3] Reporter Eva Raggio writes, "Blasingame’s love of parks is greater than Leslie Knope’s, and in his quest for greenery, he won’t leave any leaf unturned. In 2015, he set out to visit every Texas state park and visited all 95 of them within a year. Ten, he moved on to national parks. So far, he’s halfway there, with 200 or so to go."
