JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION Advertising, Digital Media Innovation, Electronic Media , Mass Communication, Journalism, & Public Relations FACULTY ACCOLADES Nandini Bhalla published a co-authored paper in September 2022. It is published in the J ournal of Communication Inquiry , one of the top communication journals with a high impact factor. [1] Associate Professor of Practice Eraldo “Dino” Chiecchi hosted 46 students and three teachers from Laredo’s Vidal M. Treviño School of Communications and Fine Arts on Oct. 5 for Mass Communication Week. [2] The students and teachers participated in workshops, listened to speakers and explored attending Texas State with a chat from Admissions. Among the speakers was 2015 SJMC graduate Reynaldo Leaños , who now works at Latino USA after having worked at NPR. He began his career at KTSW-FM. Journalism Program Coordinator Kym Fox along with Investigative Reporters and Editors Executive Director Diana Fuentes gave a presentation on public records and freedom of information at the national gathering of JAWS, Journalism and Women Symposium, in Austin. Fuentes is also an adjunct lecturer in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Jessica James and the Texas State Student Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) attended the Freedom of Information (FOI) Foundation of Texas conference in Austin. The conference welcomed media professionals across the state, addressing press freedoms and access to information. Texas State students were recognized by conference panelists for their participation and insightful questions. [3] Judy Oskam gave two refereed presentations at the September 2022 Digitally Engaged Learning conference.
