College of Fine Arts and Communication | 9 recently published a middle-grade nonfiction book, co-authored with Sue Heavenrich, titled Funky Fungi: 30 Activities for Exploring Molds, Mushrooms, Lichens, and More with Chicago Review Press. Gabriel is an elementary school teacher in Round Rock ISD, a national board certified teacher, an adjunct professor at Southwestern University, and a published author of children’s fiction and nonfiction books on the arts and nature. Emily Gazeley , Assistant Band Director at Taylor High School, has racked up multiple wins this fall at marching band competitions including Class 4A Champions at Lost Pines Marching Festival in Bastrop; preliminaries, Taylor High School received the highest 4A score in Music and Visuals, and also ranked the highest for percussion and color guard; and Best Soloists, Best Color Guard, Best Front Ensemble, Best Marching, Best Music, and Best Overall Performance at the Hill Country Marching Festival in Fredericksburg. Peyton Grover , Director of Bands at San Marcos High School, won numerous prizes this fall at marching competitions, including 1st in class 6A and 1st in finals overall at the Seguin Marching Festival; and 1st in class, 1st in Color Guard, and 1st in Percussion at Capital City Marching Festival. [6] ol ege of Fine rts and o unication | 17 Brad Engleking , a graduate from the Sound Recording Technology program, received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound at the National Television Academy 43rd Annual News and Documentary Emmy. Awards for his work as Sound Supervisor and Re-Recording Mixer on the 2021 documentary Fathom , described by IMDB as a “visual and aural wonder of a documentary that follows researchers working to finally decode the communication of humpback whales.” Brad has been a sound professional in the film industry since 2000 when he graduated from Texas State University with a B.A. in music/ sound recording technology. During this time he has worked on a wide range of film projects from Robert Rodriguez's Sin City to James Cameron's Alita Battle Angel to Terrence Malick's A Hidden Life . Brad has taught classes and lectured at The University of Texas at Austin Radio, Television and Film department, at Texas State University's Sound Recording Technology department and has participated in panels at SXSW.
