[1] Jennifer Ling Datchuk's two-person exhibition with Mia Sandhu Above the Fold at Jonathan Hopson Gallery in Houston runs September 18 - November 19. In Above the Fold , Sandhu and Datchuk excise the female body from the male gaze. In Datchuk’s masterful ceramics she confronts stereotypes of not only women but of how the west sees the Asian diaspora as she explores her identity of being Chinese American. Jennifer Ling Datchuk is part of the group show Our America, Whose America? at Ferrin Contemporary in North Adams, MA. On view through October 30, Our America, Whose America? presents a dialogue between nearly 30 contemporary artists and a collection of commercially produced ceramics. The narratives they deliver through image, characterization, and stereotype, whether overt and bombastic or subtle and cunning, form a collective memory that continues to impact the way people see themselves and others today. Jennifer Ling Datchuk's piece "When Roe Fell" is in the permanent collection of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center and "like eggshells, like freckles, like stone" is in the permanent collection of Kohler Company.
