Out of these competitors, eight where COFAC faculty from four of its fve units. Each participant had an opportunity to pitch one idea for a research or creative project that addressed a real-world issue. Ten competitors voted on their favorite ideas and split up into six teams to develop those ideas that culminated in a fnal presentation to a panel of ten judges from the university and surrounding community. Te issues addressed by projects at CoSearch this year included healthcare for undocumented students, mental health and wellbeing, restoring the Dunbar district in San Marcos, improving police training, and educating people about the language of sex and gender. Tis year “TELeHealth Goes to School,” a project that aims to meet the needs created by a lack of medical screenings for students by bringing the technology to them, took home frst place and earned $1,000 in prize money for their project. 4TH ANNUAL COSEARCH College of Fine Arts and Communication | 9
