1 Ana Baer’s choreography Loose Perspectives featuring Merge Dance Company 2 Nicole Wesley teaching a college recruitment class at Heather Stolle’s School of Dance in San Antonio 3 Dance Feeds the Soul , a concert benefting Hays County Food Bank and School Fuel SMTX DANCE Dance Studies, Per formance & Choreography, Single Teaching Certif ication, & Dual Teaching Certif ications FACULTY ACCOLADES Ana Carrillo Baer was recognized for her “superlative scholarship, creative expression, and current contributions to her discipline” and presented with the Presidential Seminar Award at the University Convocation. In May, Ana was invited to the University of Roehampton, London to show her choreography Loose Perspectives with Merge Dance Co. and to co-produce the Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema at the Michaelis Teatre. [1] Additionally, she flmed choreographer/dancer Heike Salzer in London for a new piece “WECreateSpaces.” Ana’s dance flms TerraBlue (featuring Rosely Conz) and Homemaker (featuring Michelle Nance ), were selected for the dance conference “Decolonizing Bodies: Engaging Performance” at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados. TerraBlue was also screened at the EnCore Film Festival as part of ARTWORK at Decatur Art Festival, Decatur, GA. Ana was invited to a creative residency at TXST Galleries with artistic collaborators Cheri Prough DeVol and Richard Hall , preparing for the video installation Espacios Latentes/ Latent Spaces . In June, Ana was invited to the Artistic Residency at Rancho2y2, Jalapa, Veracruz, MX, where she created a new screendance entitled Jenchekua . Additionally, she presented a lecture on Screendance at Facultad de Danza de la Universidad Veracruzana, Veracruz, Mexico. Te flm was was selected for screening at the Muestra Estatal de Danza Contemporanea, Casa de la Cultura, Morelia, Mexico. Ana’s screen dance Home was selected to screen at the S.E.T. Me Free Screendance Festival in Valetta, Malta, (European Capital of Culture). Ana’s Terrablue was included in the special edition of Women Cinemaker 2018. Kaysie Seitz Brown presented a workshop “Enhancing Science Trough Dance” at Panpapanpalya the 2nd Joint Dance Congress of daCi (Dance and the Child International) and WDA (World Dance Alliance), Adelaide, South Australia in July. Brown also worked with AISD teachers and Creative Learning Initiative on Integrating Movement and Dance in the Classroom in Austin in August. 10 | September | College News
