Te Austin Chamber Music Center of “Scenes from a Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Shelby Hadden’s animated flm, Tightly Wound has been released by Conde Nast on their Iris channel. Te documentary, which chronicles one woman’s experience with vaginismus was an ofcial selection at Annecy International Animated Film Festival – the world’s most prestigious animated flm festival. It received Honorable Mention for Best Short Documentary at the Nashville Film Festival, and was featured in Variety Magazine , Cosmo , Refnery29 , Bustle , and Te Austin Chronicle . It was named IndieWire’s Project of the Day, went on to be voted Project of the Week, and eventually became the Project of the Month in November 2016. Te flm, which was released in time for World Sexual Health Day, can be found here. Shelby Hadden , Clay Liford , Miguel Alzarez , and Huay Bing-Law are recipients of 2018 Austin Film Society Grants. Te organization, which is supported by Amazon Studios, Kodak Motion Picture Film, Tango Entertainment, Art Works, City of Austin Economic Development Department, and the Texas Commission of the Arts, along with other organizations, awarded grants to 19 flmmakers. Austin Haller toured with world-renowned Conspirare in California, joined the Austin Symphony as their organist, received an Austin Critics’ Table Award for Outstanding Musical Direction of Ragtime , [3] and set a personal best record at a marathon in Fairbanks, Alaska. Sheila Hargett’s renderings for the Texas State University production of Anything Goes have been selected as a part of LOL: Te Art of Stage Comedy , a fall exhibition at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio. Kaitlin Hopkins was awarded the “One Singular Sensation Award” from the Austin Critics’ Table for her work with the Musical Teater program. Erin Kehr was Assistant Technical Director for the Zilker Park production of All Shook Up in Austin. Additionally, he was contracted to build the electric Harley Hummer motorcycle replica for the show. Lauren Lane performed with the Brazilian theatre company, Coletiva Teatro in the culmination of a two year international collaboration, Uma Sonata Familiar . LA CAGE AUX FOLLES Cassie Abate choreographed and directed La Cage Aux Folles at the Redhouse Arts Center in Syracuse New York, starring Steve Hayes and Dirk Lumbard. Based on the 1973 French play of the same name by Jean Poiret, La Cage Aux Folles centers on a St. Tropez nightclub owned by Georges and headlined by his longtime love Albin. Te couple raised Georges’ son together, but when young Jean- Michel gets engaged to the daughter of a right-wing politician determined, Georges feels compelled to pretend to have a “normal” family. Sophomore musical theatre major, Beau Harmon was associate director/choreographer and junior musical theatre major, CK Anderson played Jean-Michel in the production.
