Akel, best known for his Independent Spirit Award- winning improvisational comedy Chalk . President Trauth recognized Jim Price for his “superior service to the University, his profession, and the community” with the presentation of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Service at the University Convocation in August. Michael Rau received the Best Production Award from the Austin Critics’ Table for his production of Ragtime . Edge of the World , a flm by Randy Redroad , produced by Betty Buckley, had its festival premiere in Dallas late September. [6] Neil Patrick Stewart taught 150 high school and college- aged musical theatre performers at Wake Forest University as a founding faculty member of Te Performing Arts Project’s groundbreaking summer intensives, Blueprint and Panorama. As the artistic director, Neil oversees a diverse faculty that includes Broadway and television veterans, Tony-winners, and master teachers from across the nation. STUDENT ACCOLADES Junior musical theatre major Elle Brooks performed in Te Lexington Teatre Company’s Music Man and played Judy in A Chorus Line . Jacob Burns (B.F.A. Musical Teatre 2019) was in the ensemble of Mamma Mia at Casa Manana and in Hairspray at Dallas Teatre Center, where he earned his Equity card. Madison Cagle (M.F.A. Costume Design) served as a makeup artist for the Pittsburgh Opera Teatre’s productions of La Boheme , Rhinegold , and Arabella . Junior musical theatre major Chris Clark performed in the summer season at Musical Teatre of Wichita, with productions including Freaky Friday , Pippin , Guys and Dolls , Sister Act and Little Mermaid . Ann Belen Cobos (B.F.A. Technical Production) served as a stitcher and wardrobe apprentice at the Santa Fe Opera where she worked on Madame Butterfy , Candide , Doctor Atomic , and Italian Girl in Algiers . Ana also designed costumes for a two-person scene from Pagliacci for the apprentice scenes. Six artworks by Hanna M. Curry (B.F.A. Performance and Production) were chosen for this year’s Common Experience showcase. Hanna was honored at an opening reception in September. Nick Eibler , junior musical theatre major, performed in La Cage at Red House. Laura Fischer (B.F.A. Technical Production) served as the costume apprentice for Te Colorado Shakespeare Festival in Boulder, CO where she worked on Richard III , Cyrano de Bergerac , Love’s Labour’s Lost , You Can’t Take It With You . Liz Fisher (M.F.A. Directing) is a 2018 recipient of a Princes Grace Award. Joining graduate students from Yale and NYU, Liz is one of only eight theatre artists from across the country to receive this prestigious award. Magen Huntley (B.F.A. Performance and Production) interned at the Cape Cod Teatre Project in Falmouth, MA. CCTP is a non-proft theatre company that produces a new play festival each summer in July. Stacey Johnson (M.F.A. Costume Design) was a draper at the Illinois Shakespeare Festival where she created costumes for their productions of Henry V and Shakespeare in Love . Lily Kren was in the ensemble of Mamma Mia at Casa Mañana and played “Cassie” in Chorus Line at Florida Repertory Teatre. Sophomore musical theatre major Ashlyn Maddox booked the summer season at Wagon Wheel. Junior musical theatre major Grace Muawad was cast at ZACHTeatre this summer in Beauty and the Beast . Timothy Norris (B.F.A. Technical Production) served as frst hand at the Illinois Shakespeare Festival workeing on their productions of Henry V and Shakespeare in Love .
