As part of her Kennedy Center/America College Teatre Festival fellowship, Allison Price (M.F.A. Directing) traveled to the WildWind Performance Lab on the campus of Texas Tech University, where she was assistant director for six new plays. While there, she worked with directors Michele Vazquez (Chicago freelancer) and Michael Legg (Artistic Director of Montana Rep) as well as dramaturges Sarah Lunnie (Playwrights Horizon), Jennie-Page White (Actors Teatre of Louisville, Skyler Gray (Chicago’s Victory Gardens) and Janice Poon (Hong Kong). Allison also traveled to the Kennedy Center to take part in the KC/ACTF Directing Intensive, where she took part in workshops with professional artists from across the country, and assistant directed several new works. Musical theatre majors Grayson Samuels , Ashlyn Maddox , Cameron Serian and Juliette Redden performed in the summer season at Wagon Wheel Teatre. Productions included Suessical , Saturday Night Fever , My Fair Lady , All Shook Up , and Freaky Friday . Ryan Sozzi (M.F.A. Costume Design) served as assistant wig master at the Texas Shakespeare Festival where he worked on Tartufe , King John , 110 in the Shade and Love’s Labour’s Lost . Alexander Stearns (M.F.A. Costume Design) served as a stitcher with the Illinois Shakespeare Festival where he worked on Henry V and Shakespeare in Love . Caitlin Turnage’s play Little Perfect You will have a staged reading as part of the Campfre Teatre Festival. Emily Tyminski (B.F.A. Technical Production) served as the Costume Apprentice at Te Hangar Teatre in Ithaca, NY were she worked on Peter Pan , T he Amazing Tale of the Backyard Overnight , Te Transition of Doodle Pequeno , Snow White , Seussical Jr . Audrey Webb (M.F.A. Dramatic Writing) attended the Samuel French Of-Of-Broadway Festival, where her play Buried was one of 30 featured plays. She was among the 50 fnalists from an initial feld of more than 1,100 writers in the NYC Midnight Screenwriting Challenge. Te October issue of the Texas Teatre Journal will include Audrey’s book review of the recently published Teatre for Youth II: More Plays with Mature Temes . Sophomore musical theatre major Jake Young joined the company of Hello Dolly this summer at Te Lyric Teatre of Oklahoma. ALUMNI ACCOLADES Daniel Anderson (M.F.A. Directing) has been hired as an Instructor of Teatre at Angelo State University, teaching directing and acting. Woman Hollering Creek , a play by Rita Anderson (MA Teatre History), is being produced at the Emily Ann Teatre in Wimberley. Another of her plays, Oubliette (the Place of Forgetting) , will be produced as part of Te Mother Lode performance at Actors Temple in the heart of NYC’s theatre district. In addition, her one-act play, Lightning Girl , was published this summer in the Stonecoast Review . Zuhdi Boueri (B.F.A. Acting 2015) received his M.F.A. in Acting from Penn State in 2017. While at Penn State, he studied abroad with the National Teatre of London, toured a new play by Hansol Jung to the South African National Arts Festival, and took part in the Every Twenty-Eight Hours One-Minute Play Festival in honor of the Black Lives Matter movement. He now lives in NYC, where he landed a role in an HBO flm/ Stephen Brower (B.F.A. Musical Teatre 2015) made his Broadway debut in Anastasia and is now playing the lead role of Dimitri in the frst national tour. Alaiya Burke and Kyle Green were promoted to a paid position on a current flm . Bravo Nwosu and Nora Jones were camera interns. Nick Castanon (M.F.A. Directing) has been hired as an adjunct teacher for Alamo Colleges District. Carly Conklin (M.F.A. Directing) has been hired as a visiting assistant professor at Oklahoma State University. Brian Corkum (B.F.A. Musical Teatre 2018) was part of Te Lexington Teatre Company’s summer season. 20 | September | College News
