JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION Advertising, Digital Media Innovation, Electronic Media , Mass Communication, Journalism, & Public Relations FACULTY ACCOLADES Larry Carlson is back at Old Main, teaching two classes this fall after three years of retirement. Larry is also the senior writer for The History of Longhorn Sports website, a nonprofit that assists aging University of Texas letter winners in times of need. It is headed by CEO Billy Dale, a former Texas football player. Larry introduced him to Chuck Kaufman and Chuck's Bobcat Promotions team is working to completely revamp the site's layout and design. Carlson is a member of the Football Writers Association of America and covered the week-long Southeastern Conference (SEC) Media Days in Nashville over the summer. Daniel Carter, with Texas Community Health News, published an article, "U.S. census and other surveys likely undercount the number of LGBTQ+ people living in Texas" in The Texas Tribune . [1] Eraldo “Dino” Chiecchi was the lead presenter at a panel discussion called “Beyond Thoughts and Prayers: Covering Mass Shootings and Vicarious Trauma” at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) convention in Washington, D.C., in August. Chiecchi also was the moderator of a panel discussion called “Teen & College Student Suicide: A Serious Matter” held at the LBJ Student Center in September. Other panelists included representatives from the Office of Disability Services, the Counseling Center, School of Social Work, the Student Health Center, School of Social Work and the Professional Counseling Program. Charles “Chuck” Kaufman, and Kendall Hunt Publishing of Dubuque, have agreed to publish Money, Power, Pride: Essays about Competing in the Sports Daniel Carter published an article in The Texas Tribune Gilbert Martinez and Jon Zmikly took 14 students to Tokyo Debra Price and Jennifer Scharlach took public relations students to Seattle 14 | September | College News 1 2 3
