[4] • Rodríguez also performed with the VBF Brass Quintet for the unveiling of the VBF 50th Anniversary Monu- ment on the campus of the University of Houston-Vic- toria. • Rodríguez presented a lecture on June 26, 2025, entitled "Realizing the Dream Through Routine" at the invitation of the Asociación Española de Tubas y Bombardinos for the International Tuba Euphonium Conference (ITEC 2025 Spain) in Valencia, Spain. Paul Sánchez received second place in The American Prize Charles Ives Award in Composition—Chamber Music for his three-movement, sixty-two-minute work for soprano, prepared piano, and sistrum, Nefertari , which is performed in ancient Egyptian. Nico Schüler presented a conference paper on analyzing late-nineteenth-century Black music at the Theorizing Afri- can American Music national conference in Atlanta, Geor- gia, in June 2025. • Schüler delivered an historical and cultural analysis of African American music theatre music at the interna- tional conference hosted by the International Federation for Theatre Research in Cologne, Germany. • Schüler also presented a cultural-historical and mu- sic-analytical analysis of African American songs at the North American Conference on Nineteenth-Century Music in Detroit, Michigan. The performance marked a sig- nificant addition to the clarinet repertoire and a memorable collaboration between composer and performer. ClarinetFest has long been recognized as the leading international gather- ing of clarinetists, and, within this setting, the premiere car- ried exceptional significance. Petrov’s sonata, written with Tangarov’s artistry in mind, combines lyricism, virtuosity, and emotional depth. Its fresh voice offers both a tribute to the clarinet’s tradition and a forward-looking vision of its possibilities.
