Ryan Montgomery had their work featured in a summer group exhibition within the Ivester Contemporary Galleries. The exhibition, Infinite Scroll , was inspired by the ubiquitous web design technique where more content automatically and continuously loads as the user scrolls down a page. His work was on display through August. He is in residency with the Texas Biennial exhibition, The Last Sky , within the Blaffer Art Museum in Houston, from September 2024 through March 2025. [4] Beverly Penn displayed her work during the following ex- hibitions: Due South , San Benito Cultural Heritage Muse- um, San Benito, Texas, May – August; Fuego Frio , William Campbell Gallery, Fort Worth, June – August; Botanical, 70th Anniversary Exhibition , Valley House Gallery, Dallas, Aug – Sept. Additionally, Beverly will be displaying her work at these upcoming exhibitions: Flatbed Prints , a col- laborative exhibition at Flatbed Press and Women & Their Work, Austin, Nov – Dec; 50th Anniversary Exhibition , William Campbell Gallery, Fort Worth, Nov – Dec. Elvia Perrin is collaborating with a new online shop based in Germany, Creme Frech Shop. Creme Frech offers a curated collection of original artwork and artisan interior goods. She is among a select group of artists selling original work through this curated site. She is making reproduction of her prints available through Wayfair Retail, USA. Randall Reid had his work featured in a joint exhibition with Emilio Lobato, Silent Elevations , on display at the Nuart Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA from August 10th – September 24th. His work was featured in an exhibition, Fuego Frio , on display at the William Campbell Contemporary Art Gallery in Ft. Worth, from June 8th – August 24th. Liz Rodda's solo exhibition, The Hand Is Pinker Than the Eye , opened Sept 14 at Jonathon Hopson Gallery, Houston and runs through Nov 24. Her work was also in a three-person show, Beach Bodies , at Galveston Arts Center, Galveston, Texas. (July 20 - September 29). Liz's video work was on view in WaterWork , an inaugural video showcase that utilizes the Seaholm Intake Facility along Lady Bird Lake as a backdrop for projection-mapped works organized by Design Austin and The Trail Conservancy (after sunset on the evenings of September 12 + 17). [5] This summer Tammie Rubin completed two art residencies. 1) A collaborative residency between Rivalry Projects and Mirabo Press Fine Art Printmaking Studio in Buffalo, New York, and 2) A Sculpture Space Inc., residency. Rubin is one of five artists who lived and worked in Utica, as part of the Summer 2024 cohorts. [6] A short artist documentary featuring Tammie Rubin , created for the 2024 ‘Persisting Matters’ series and presented by the Center for Italian Modern Art in NYC, was awarded an official selection at the 10th Web Series Festival Global in the Pilot category. Ana Trevino's film with Mark Menjivar was screened on August 30th as part of the Front Festival in Austin. The film's title is Relics and it was made last September during a workshop that Mark and Ana led at the Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria. STUDENT ACCOLADES On April 19, 2024, Art History majors Norma Bickmore and Samantha Hudd presented their art history thesis papers at the Undergraduate Research Conference, sponsored by Texas State University’s Honors College. Erina Duganne was the thesis su- pervisor for both Bickmore’s “Decolonizing Chicana Identity: Alma Lopez's Iconographic Rebellion” and Hudd’s “Reviving the Renaissance: Exploring Count- er Cultural Expressions in Renaissance Paintings and Renaissance Faire Subcultures.” This summer, Norma Bickmore was Curatorial In- tern and art history major Isabelle Perez was Collec- tions Intern at Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin. These positions are competitive, paid internships. Norma is currently working as a gallery assistant at The Art Galleries of Austin Community College. [7] As a Smithsonian Leadership for Change Intern (Summer 2023), art history major Marienne Duran Henriquez was part of the team that created the new online exhibition Unificar: Tejano Social Organiza- tions for the Oakwood Cemetery Chapel, which was launched in July. She researched, edited, and provid- ed Spanish translation for the exhibition. She’s also worked on other Tejano history exhibits for Oakwood Cemetery Chapel, including Caminar , Reunir , To Remember/Recordar , and upcoming Contribuir: The Camacho Family in the East Austin Community . In Summer 2024, she was a museum apprentices’ super- visor for the Museums and Cultural Programs Divi- sion for Austin Parks and Recreation Department. The online magazine Bold Journey (May 10, 2024) featured an interview with art history alumna Caro- line Frost (BA, 2021), in which she talked about the experience of presenting her art history thesis at the Undergraduate Art History Symposium (School of Art & Design, Texas State University) in April 2021 as a step in overcoming imposter syndrome. In ad- dition to being Assistant Director of the Commerce Gallery in Lockhart, Frost writes exhibition reviews for Glasstire , a Houston-based online publication about visual art in Texas. Her most recent review is “Charlotte Fox’s ‘Sour’ at McLennon Pen Co. Gallery, Austin” (July 13, 2024). Art history alumna Rylan Daniell (BA, 2019) has been promoted to Constituent Services Associate at the Texas Science & Natural History Museum of the University of Texas at Austin. Daniell works alongside museum leadership to ensure the museum thrives as a newly self-sustaining entity on campus. She’s also in charge of all group visits and the overall operational efficiency for the museum. Last spring, art history major Harper Pennington completed an internship at Artpace, San Antonio, which led to a job!
