College of Fine Arts and Communication | 9 ALUMNI ACCOLADES M.A. alumna Regina Ogechi Alabere and Stephanie Dailey visited Elizabeth K. Eger’s Work, Identity, and Difference seminar virtually to discuss their research on individuals with intellectual disabilities’ work and sports socialization experiences. Regina con- ducted this research with Stephanie and co-authors when she was a Master’s student at TXST. Regina is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Memphis. [9] M.A. alumna Tori Rose Miller received the 2025 Outstanding Crew Member award from Women in Film & TV in Austin. This award focuses on Tori's dedication to empowering women in film and TV. Tori currently works in Austin as a production set design- er. [10] Communication Studies Advisory Board member and alumna, Shanna D. Schultz , presented to Elizabeth K. Eger’s Work, Iden- tity, and Difference grad seminar to discuss her career journey, how she uses her COMM degree today, and her focus on work-life and difference initiatives. Shanna is a marketing and communication professional (marcomm) with expertise in strategy, content mar- keting, and data analytics at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, which focuses on edge-to-cloud technology solutions for large organiza- tions like Disney and Mercedes.  [11] M.A. alumnus Michael Tahmoressi presented his ethnographic organizational communication research conducted in The Neth- erlands entitled, “A place where bikes can sing: A communicative inquiry into the lives of bikes and their repair partners” at the In- ternational Qualitative Research in Management and Organization Conference in Albuquerque, NM. Michael is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. DEPARTMENT ACCOLADES TEDx 2025 Talks are Now Available The talks from the tenth annual TEDx Texas State University conference are now available to view on the official TEDx YouTube channel. On November 8, 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson, alumnus of Texas State University (then Southwest Texas State College), signed into law the Higher Education Act of 1965 on our campus in San Marcos, Texas. One of the primary aims of the legislation was "to strengthen the educational resources of our colleges and universi- ties.” The 2025 TEDx event celebrated the 60th anniversary of the signing of this bill and its lasting legacy, with speakers representing a variety of fields and perspectives including technology, health, the arts, media, social sciences, the humanities, and the natural sciences. 10 M.A. alumna Regina Ogechi Alabere and Stephanie Dailey visited Elizabeth K.
