Women Communicators of Austin honored Davis with the Outstanding Austin Commu- nicator Award. Emmy Award Winning and Grammy Nom- inated, Debra Davis is a storyteller who creates engaging television series, live streams, live music events, award shows, branded content, events, corporate entertainment, and meet- ings. She is founder of Debra Davis Productions, a full-service production company. [8] DEPARTMENT ACCOLADES SJMC students and faculty - Cindy Royal , Jon Zmikly , Dale Blasingame , Vanessa Higgins Joyce , Lisa Jackson , Alex- ander Tawiah , Desarae Saathoff and Mandalyn Lewallen attended the International Symposium on Online Journalism at The University of Texas March 27-28. Vanessa Higgins Joyce spoke on a panel in tribute to Dr. Maxwell McCombs, the research pioneer who originated agenda-setting theory. [9] Daniel Schumacher and the KTSW 89.9 staff picked up 6 awards at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association Conven- tion held in San Marcos April 10-12, including two 1st place awards, two 2nd place awards, a 3rd place award, and one honorable mention. Laura Krantz and the University Star staff members and con- tributors won 28 awards from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA) during the spring convention April 10-12 in San Marcos. TIPA is the oldest collegiate media organization in the coun- try. It consists of member student media outlets at 77 public and private two-year colleges and four-year universities in Texas. More than 425 students and their advisers attended the conference. The annual awards honor excellence in student media.
