Finalists Best All-Around Student Newspaper Science/Environment/Climate Reporting – Lucciana Choueiry General News Reporting – Ryan Claycamp Illustration – Sophie Pickerrell Michael Devlin and the Texas State National Student Ad- vertising Competition team has advanced to the last and final round of the NSAC competition in Pittsburgh in June. The TXST NSAC team placed 1st in the 2025 National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) in District 10. District 10 includes major universities in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. This is the 4th time Texas State has won 1st since 2020. The team will compete against other district-winning universities across the country. Faculty advisors include Mike Devlin , DeeAnne Vickery , and Sage Baker . The TXST team includes students from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the Department of Marketing and the School of Art and Design. [10] SJMC Celebrates Academic Excellence and Student Achieve- ment at 2025 Awards Ceremony The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University honored outstanding students during its 2025 SJMC Awards Ceremony, held at the LBJ Student Cen- ter. The event opened with remarks from Texas State President Kelly Damphousse , SJMC Director Judy Oskam , and Dean John Fleming of the College of Fine Arts and Communica- tion. [11] A highlight of the ceremony was the induction of students into Kappa Tau Alpha , the national honor society recognizing the top 10 percent of SJMC students from the 2024–2025 aca- demic year. Advertising students were also inducted into Alpha Delta Sigma, a national honor society sponsored by the Amer- ican Advertising Federation that celebrates academic excellence in advertising studies. [12] The program recognized student leaders across key areas of the school, including The University Star , KTSW 89.9, the PRSSA Bateman Competition CommCats team, and the TXST Na- tional Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) team. Top Student Awards were presented across all undergraduate and graduate programs—Advertising, Digital Media Innova- tion, Electronic Media, Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, and the Graduate Program—celebrating students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and leadership. Special recognition was given to SJMC graduate Jordan Roberts , honoring her lasting contributions to the program, followed by closing remarks and a reception honoring the accomplishments of the SJMC community.
